BEREA, Ohio -- As the Cleveland Browns embark on their final week of their offseason program, there are several areas of the team that need to come together for the Browns to have a chance to have a successful season in 2023, including making the playoffs.

However, there is nothing more important than quarterback Deshaun Watson and his return to the form that sent him to the Pro Bowl from 2018-20 and resulted in him leading the NFL in passing yardage in 2020.

Watson and the offense had a so-so stretch of six games to end the 2022 season after a 700-day layoff from football, including an 11-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy by committing sexual assault, as defined by the league, on massage therapists. Watson has had the entire 2023 offseason in coach Kevin Stefanski's offensive scheme and team chemistry. Whether Watson can regain his 2020 form will ultimately determine the Browns' success in 2023.

Watson has been able to work with some of the Browns' new additions in wide receivers Elijah Moore and Marquise Goodwin. Both players looked good in the OTA's that were open to the media and then again in the first day of minicamp on Tuesday. Last week, Goodwin caught a couple of deep ball passes for touchdowns.

Watson was able to get Amari Cooper back on Tuesday, and the pair hooked up for a touchdown. He also connected for back-to-back touchdown passes to Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Unofficially, Watson threw nine touchdown passes on 10 red zone plays during the 7-on-7 period near the end of practice. The lone play that was not a touchdown was a pass to Moore, who was marked at the one-yard line.

Cooper was asked what is the most noticeable difference in Watson this year.

"He looks in a bit of a better groove just after having that long layoff," he said. "Of course, you're going to lose some rhythm, some form of rhythm, but he looks like he's really getting that back."

Stefanski downplayed the success that Watson and the offense had in the 7-on-7 drills.

"Former defensive back speaking now," he said. "Seven on seven is geared to the offense. You should complete balls at seven on seven. So I'm the head coach, not the offensive (coordinator)."

Watson threw touchdown passes to Jerome Ford, as well as Moore, on Tuesday.

Cooper did individual drills last week in his first practice since undergoing core muscle surgery early in the offseason.

Every passing drill Watson spends with his receivers will help build chemistry with each receiver, and Watson was spreading the ball all over the field on Tuesday.

Stefanski said Cooper looked good to him.
