Will he build another St. Jetersburg? The Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter has reportedly made a massive land grab.

The Yankees legend seems to have purchased a 2-acre waterfront lot in Coral Gables, FL, for $16.6 million, according to the South Florida Business Journal. The property first landed on the market in September 2020 for $17,999,500, according to realtor.com®.

Now serving as an executive with the Miami Marlins, Jeter’s been busy with real estate in the Miami area.

For his latest purchase, he bought a parcel that features 325 linear feet on a wide waterway. The picturesque location offers unparalleled views from the largest waterfront lot available in the guard-gated Gables Estates.

The prestigious property comes with some improvements, such as a recently completed seawall, plus docks that can handle two megayachts or other seaworthy vessels.

Plans by the architect Cesar Molina are also available, for a new, 20,000-square-foot custom home. Permits for the potential new build are working their way through the approval process, a time-saving strategy for a buyer who appreciates the look of the proposed design.

The locale is also close to excellent schools, fine dining, and luxury shopping, the listing boasts.

With this pricey purchase, Jeter adds another to his long list of real estate deals.

The baseball legend still needs to snag a buyer for his splashy Davis Islands digs. He placed that massive custom-built estate on the market last year for $29 million.

The incredible spread on 1.2 acres offers seven bedrooms and almost 22,000 square feet of interior space. Highlights include a club room with full-service bar, a billiards and game table, multiple TVs, and a sitting area. Outside, the space includes a dock and two boatlifts, a heated spa, and an 80-foot saltwater lap pool.

The resort-style mansion served as a temporary rental last year for the newly transplanted Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, the model Gisele Bündchen.

With his transition to the Marlins, Jeter, 46, needed a place closer to the team’s HQ. At first, he had reportedly been renting out a luxe condo in Coconut Grove, but he has since traded that apartment for a mansion in Coral Gables, FL. He appears to have purchased the Miami-area property in 2018 for $6.5 million.

The eight-bedroom abode on 1 acre includes a pool and a courtyard, with gazebo, BBQ, and bar. But perhaps that wasn’t quite enough space. He’ll surely be able to spread out with his family with his latest buy.

With his career with the Yankees over, Jeter is also looking to attract a buyer for his New York state vacation property, the Gem on the Lake. The castlelike construction is available for $12.75 million. The long-time lakeside retreat had previously been available for $14.75 million in 2018.

The former shortstop spent his entire 20-year career with the Yankees. Now retired, the five-time World Series champion is the CEO and part owner of the Marlins.

Ralph Arias with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty represented the seller. Alex Pirez with Mocca Realty repped the buyer.
