Took control of the middle linebacker post, starting 11 games ...  missed the Mississippi State, Kentucky and Chattanooga contests due to injury ... recorded 67 tackles to rank second on UA, including 5.5 for loss (-26 yards) and three sacks (-21 yards) ... added four quarterback hurries and four pass breakups ... semifinalist for the Butkus Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top linebacker ... named to the watch list for the Butkus to start the season ... selected as one of the defensive players of the week by the Crimson Tide coaching staff for his play against Middle Tennessee, Texas, USF, Tennessee and Auburn. Middle Tennessee: Directed an Alabama defense that allowed just 78 yards rushing and only 211 yards of total offense ... contributed seven tackles, including a team-high two for loss (-14 yards) ... also registered one sack (-12 yards) and a quarterback hurry. Texas: Finished second on UA with eight total tackles. USF: Recorded a team-best and career-high 10 tackles, including 1.5 for loss (-7 yards) and one sack (-6 yards). Ole Miss: Exited the game after suffering an injury midway through the second quarter ... totaled one tackle and a quarterback hurry prior to his departure. Texas A&M: Returned to action after missing the Mississippi State contest ... recorded five tackles and a pass breakup against the Aggies. Arkansas: Directed a Tide defense that limited the Hogs to only  250 yards of total offense ... finished with six tackles on the day. Tennessee: Led UA with 12 total stops ... also broke up one pass and added a quarterback hurry. LSU: Had his night cut short due to injury ... recorded three tackles and a quarterback hurry prior to his exit. Auburn: Returned to the lineup to contribute five total tackles, including one sack (-3 yards). Georgia: Finished with four tackles, including one for loss (-2 yards). Michigan: Recorded six tackles and a pair of pass breakups in the Rose Bowl.

Earned significant minutes on special teams while growing in his role on defense as the season wore on ... saw time in 11 games with four starts ... recorded 51 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss (-7 yards), to go with four pass breakups ... selected as one of the UA coaching staff's special teams players of the week for his efforts at Texas. Utah State: Rotated in at linebacker and saw time on special teams ... finished with four total tackles, including half a tackle for loss (-1 yard). Texas: Combined for a tackle on the final kickoff to limit the UT return man ... also contributed one tackle from his linebacker post. ULM: Recorded five tackles and a pass breakup against the Warhawks. Vanderbilt: Tied for the team-high total for tackles with six stops. Arkansas: Saw time on defense and special teams in Fayetteville ... totaled one tackle. Texas A&M: Made the start at will linebacker against the Aggies ... finished with five total tackles. Tennessee: Started for a second straight game, totaling seven stops in Knoxville. Ole Miss: Broke up a pair of passes to go with six tackles. Austin Peay: Recorded one tackle, including half a stop for loss (-1 yard) ... also broke up a pass that he nearly picked off. Auburn: Led the Alabama defense with nine stops against the Tigers. Kansas State: Got the start in the Sugar Bowl ... finished with six tackles, including 1.5 for loss (-5 yards).

2021

Provided depth in the Tide's linebacking corps, working in four games ... received a redshirt at season's end. Miami: Saw his first collegiate action in the season opener. Mercer: Worked on defense against the Bears. Southern Miss: Earned minutes against USM. New Mexico State: Saw time in the non-conference matchup.
