Demore Barnes (born November 16, 1976 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is an actor who portrays Deputy Chief Christian Garland on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Barnes was promoted to the main cast in the twenty-second season. He had portrayed Garland in a recurring role in the twenty-first season. He also appeared as Garland on the Law & Order: Organized Crime episode "An Inferior Product". On September 3, 2021, it was revealed that both Barnes and Jamie Gray Hyder had been dismissed from the show and would depart the series in the twenty-third season premiere, with Hyder confirming the news on Instagram.
Barnes had previous starred on the TV show The Unit (with Scott Foley, Michael Irby, Robert Patrick, and Regina Taylor). He also guest-starred as Attorney Marshall Matthews on the TV shows Chicago Justice and Chicago Med.
