I'm from NY City. I visited Ann Arbor, MI today and my friend introduced me to Zingerman's Deli. There was a crowd outside at noontime and 2 gentlemen manning stations in front of the store, one for grocery shopping inside and the other for ordering...sandwiches. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Everyone is wearing a mask, most of the masks quite upscale. Sandwich orders are done by cell phone or on- line, when your order is ready you pick it up in the back at a table outside, and there are picnic tables to eat your sandwich. We order one Pastrami on Rye with Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing to share, the wait is 20 minutes, and we stand around, then go inside the grocery as our sandwiches are being made. There is fresh baked bread, gourmet chocolate, wonderful selections of deli meat, salads, and a bathroom, which was very clean and well appointed. We received a text that our sandwich was ready, we left the grocery and headed to the back to pick up our sandwich and a Dr. Brown Black Cherry. A table became available, it was wiped, we sat down, and opened the tightly wrapped sandwich, each taking one half. The bread was hand cut, freshly baked, deeply crusted, chewy, perfect. The Pastrami was rough cut, deeply flavorful, and generously portioned. The cole slaw was homemade, flavorful, crunchy, a perfect compliment to the meat. The Russian Dressing was lovely. Can you tell I loved this sandwich! I've eaten lot's of excellent pastrami and this is the best of it's kind that I've ever tasted. Hy-Grade in Detroit makes the same sandwich and it's great too, in it's own way, but Zingerman's makes one incredible sandwich, probably the best I've ever had. Check it out.More

We keep coming back for their jamon iberica that you can’t get anywhere else. Assorted of cheeses is phenomenal and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in recommending exactly what you’re looking for. Don’t overlook the wide selection of olive oils. Consider the French...brands - absolutely perfect on salads. Take your time here. Enjoy!More

We thought we were going to the Roadhouse and wound up here closer to downtown Ann Arbor. Funky, hippy vibe as it was likely a remodeled home with lots of different rooms and it took us a while to discover the line to order. You...approach a staff person who has all the necessary computer apparatus to take your order. They can also recommend menu items and suggest alternatives. We split a sandwich and it was plenty for two people. Drinks from their soda fountain are self serve and bottomless. Everything they offer is excellent, but they are proud of their offerings.More

Coming from Chicagoland, I have access to a variety of places for food. Sadly, after a visit to this place my daughter and I paid almost $50 for two sandwiches and side salads (potato) and two drinks. Big and fancy bread but meat was basically...a layer made up of one slice and a token amount of meat in the middle of the sandwich to make it look like it was more than it was. After evenly distributed meat so as not to eat it all in one bite, it was about 1/8” in thickness. For a $16+ sandwich that is absolutely insane. So if you wan to pay $25 for bread, a bowl of potato salad and a fountain drink by all means visit this rip off jointMore

I’ve heard so much about this place and had so many friends who have lived in or travel to Ann Arbor tell me I had to go. It was the long awaited capstone to my Michigan road trip and I arrived hungry and expecting great...things. I visited during quarantine and it was setup very well for social distancing and contactless pickup. When I got my food an hour later (text said approximately 45 minutes, but no big deal there) I was lucky enough get a patio table that had a little sign that was flipped over saying ‘clean’ letting me know what I just saw: a worker had just cleaned the table. This may not seem huge, but in times like what we face today, that’s high praise for me: +1 Star for that. Otherwise, only +1 star for the food. Now, if you know anything about Zingerman’s, you go knowing that they are pricier for a sandwich. I’m not upset about the price like others on here. They claim to source quality product and ingredients and not skimp down on their ingredients when prices go up like ever other restaurant business model, and I can’t tell you how much I respect this. I wish they would just skimp down on the acid in their dressings and potato salad. Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe the sandwich-makers were a too high from that Michigan ganja. Maybe covid is leaving their staff distressed and this was a cry for help. I don’t know, but the acidic dressing on the Reuben and the amount of lemon juice in the potato salad was completely overwhelming. The other ingredients — as quality, expensive and tasty they might be — were crying for help and flailing their arms as they drowned in the acid bath of this meal. What a disappointment of over-promised and under-delivered flavor and quality. It’s 7 hours later and a car drive back to Ohio yet I can still taste it, and it’s not good at all. Also, they forgot my pickle 🙄More

Ok, this place was EXPENSIVE! While the sandwich was good, was it worth $22, for a remote order and pickup and eat outside? Sandwich was good, but not worth paying such a premium. Peeked inside and it looked like a neat place with rolls of...bread and deli meats all over. But in today’s covid environment, you can’t go in, you have to order on line AND you get charged a fee for ordering online. Pickup was clear and easy and quick, so no issues there. Sat outside at a cute metal table and ate in the sunshine. (They had an awning with many other tables covered from the elements. Bottom line: cute place. WAY expensive. Good sandwich.More

We ordered on line during the covid-19 virus as we were making lunches everyday for our Skelton crew and I needed a break. We order two Reuben sandwich packages which said it would make 4 to 6 sandwiches. They arrived on time packaged well with...great instructions. I have to say the corn beef was the best I have tasted since I was a girl going to Jewish Deli’s in Philadelphia and NYC. Zingerman’s portions were perfect. We made 10 sandwiches and there was plenty left over. Everyone was saying it was one of the best sandwiches they had ever eaten. The only thing yiu need is butter or olive oil to grill the sandwiches. I use olive oil. Would order this again in a heart beat. Also order the scones package. Did not think they were the best but still good.More

Super disappointed after being so excited to try this place. We were told by multiple people who know good jewish deli food to try this place while we were in town. What a let down! We ordered a Pastrami Reuben (Jenny's Fix). The Pastrami had...no flavor and was all fat. There was supposed to coleslaw on the sandwich but it was non existent as was the Russian Dressing. The Pickles were not crunchy but soft. For sides we got the Broc a Boat and Mac & Cheese. Although the Broccoli was tasty, it was served ice cold. The Mac & Cheese also tasty but served barely warm. It was all just a disappointing mess. In comparison to other jewish deli's the portions were way off. For a $20 sandwich, I should have leftovers for days. What a complete waste of money.More

Due to covid there was no seating in the restaurant. We had to order online and pickup the sandwiches. The sandwiches are huge and they have a large selection. If you are not a big eater then order small. By making it 'regular' you will...add $2 to each order. All the sandwiches have lots of meat and bread are excellent holding all the meat and condiments.More

I was so disappointed with the amount of corned beef that was put on my Reuben. My husband and i always split a sandwich because they were huge. Paying $17.50 for a sandwich didn't bother me. However, the last one i ordered there was exactly...4 ounces of corned beef (when i got home, i actually deconstructed and weighed the sandwich). i had a 2 ounce 1/2 sandwich with mostly bread. i am so disappointed, after enjoying Zingerman's for the last 30 years, i will not go there again. Too expensive and not feeling satisfied after spending a lot. I felt cheated.More

First of all, no problems parking, no feeling like the street was too small or congested, as others have said. Got here 12:30 on a Wednesday. They were doing a decent amount of business, but still, the area wasn’t super crowded, despite the farmer’s market...going on. Anyway. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a 10 minute wait to get food. Gave us time to look at the $300 bottles of balsamic vinegar that we didn’t buy. No doubt, this place is pricey, but nothing wrong with that if you are willing to pay it. I liked the craft soda selection. Sandwich was nice – good pastrami and corned beef – but to be honest, not mind blowing or anything better than I’ve had elsewhere. The bread was tasty – good sandwich bread. Tomato soup was just that – again, nothing special.More

Wanted to try this place after my wife saw it on a food show. Parking can be fun so online ordering made for a quick food pick up. If you want a specific pick-up time you may have to put it into the note spot,...since the time selection option may not be available. They read the notes. The sandwiches are large and have great condiments and cheese selections. Di not like the side order of coleslaw because it didn't have much flavor other than the cabbage taste. Loved sandwich number 22.More

Had a large corned beef cheese slaw on Jewish rye. Lots of fatty meat. Half fat and half meat. Very messy to eat. Slaw made bread soggy while thick bread crust is so tough and chewy...sandwich fell apart. Matso ball soup is a clear tastless...broth with a small matso ball. New pickle was as expected. Disappointed in all. Also you order in one building. Go to another for drink and payment. Then find a table upstairs, or outside, or in another building ??? The order comes to you but good grief dont expect it to stay hot. Likely won't return or recommend. Better sandwiches at Firehouse subs. Sorry. Also very pricey for what it is.More

I have heard so much about this place. I ordered a $15 sandwich expecting a New York Deli type experience. The sandwich had very little meat on it and the bread was very tough. It was not at all traditional Jewish rye. I asked if...it came with a pickle and they told me it did. There was not pickle. You really cannot talk to anyone or go inside. It was a huge disappointment.More

I really liked the Singerman‘s delicatessen. I’ve been looking for real corn beef sandwich as I drove across the US and I am happy to say that Ann Arbor house is a very good corn beef sandwich! I was really happy to see I could...get gluten-free bread, but the choices of dark rye or pumpernickel Certainly caught my eye. It would be fun to eat around the menu here!More
