Wish there was more with just ocean sounds and less narration.

This was a good movie but not great and not very long, but I got it for $5 so I was satisfied. I love watching documentaries!! Especially about the ocean but I thought this one offered nothing new. Can't remember the year this came out so maybe it was one of the first of its kind, but I'd like a little bit more information on each sea creature than this doc offered. Yet again when these movies are offered at a decent price they are worth watching.

Nice and colorful and the movie shows beautiful (however bizarre) under water creatures you have to see to believe. If you don't already have a 3D capable set up, don't spend any money upgrading your system to accommodate 3D. (unless its a new and improved iteration of the genera). It's beautiful enough in 4k or Blue ray.

I love that Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet narrated this, they each add a bit of sense of humor to it. I'm not a fan of WB for what they did to JD and this is old but it's the prettiest and most magical under sea presentation I've eve seen.

We have never owned a 3D TV set before, so getting a 3D movie was the first on the list. We wanted to get something that can be shared with our friends and family members with less critical dialogues, so the full featured 3D movies were out for now. After a little bit of research, we found this title and its twin brother
Under the Sea
. We went back and forth to choose only one, but they both had great reviews. Finally, we decided to order both, the single disk versions, and we couldn't be happier. The picture and 3D look awesome on either disk, and since they are very short, you can easily watch them back-to-back. We also did demo the disks on some occasions for our guests, and they all liked them so far.
Deep Sea is narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, and as other reviewers have mentioned, they did a better job than Jim Carry's voice in Under the Sea. However, both my wife and I liked the colors of Under the Sea better. Under the Sea is more colorful and the "Potato Cod" scene is just amazing in 3D.
I think both Under the Sea and Deep Sea are great movies to have in your 3D collection. They are very short, only about 45 minutes each, so one may say price is a tad high on these titles; however, rest assured that you'll find more opportunities to watch and share these with your friends than the full length 3D movies. Besides, you can always get the single disk versions at a lower rate.

This DVD features a wide variety of sea life including: jellyfish, starfish, coral life, strobing squid, sharks, sea turtles, sting rays -even a whale. My three-year old never gets tired of watching it; he loves the parts centered on the octopus the best.
From an adult perspective, I am amazed at how many different species they show (beautiful footage), and it is very informative...great for family time, educating children/students, etc. I gave it five stars because we wanted a DVD that discusses sea creatures, and that is exactly what you get.
HOWEVER, the narration was awful! We own and rent dozens of DVDs from Discovery, Animal Planet, and National Geographic, and this was the worst narration I have ever heard. I was surprised, but I guess Johnny Depp & Kate Winslet haven't had much experience with narration...although, I think the script was a big part of the problem (some lines are soooo cheesy).
Also, I think the price is way too high for a forty-minute DVD...BUT, when I think about how much my son loves Deep Sea, it is worth the money. As I said, I gave it five stars because it does deliver the best sea creatures.

My ratings are based mainly on the QUALITY OF THE 3D, not the video content.
In addition to the title scenes 5 more out of screen effects extend an impressive 50% of the way, from the screen to the viewer. Another 20 reached 25% or more and many are in the 5 to 10% range.
EXCESS PARALLAX in a few of the scenes make it hard to mentally assemble the 3D.
Far better than Wild Ocean in every respect
*** Visually stunning sea floor & creature footage in crystal clear 3D ***
MY 3D RATING = VERY GOOD (poor, fair, good, very good, excellent)
Note: As far as the percentages go, everyone's eyes are different. What I see at 25% you may see at 15% or 35%. To fully realize how far something is out of the screen for you, pause on an effect and direct a partner with an extended finger to the tip of what you are seeing. You may be surprised.

Deep Sea IMAX is a short (around 40 minutes) but very satisfying documentary about life in the ocean. The footage is top notch and it is enhanced by the familiar voices of Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet.
Adults who are real ocean fanatics may find this movie to be a little wanting due to the short duration. But I purchased this for my three year old daughter who loved a copy that I had rented last summer. In general I think that shorter movies are better for kids because their attention spans are shorter.
One of my friends commented that he thought the term "deep" was a bit of false advertising because while the film is definitely shot in deep water they don't explore the really dark and mysterious places at the very bottom of the ocean. This assessment is true enough. So if you're into really deep ocean videos then this may not be the one for you.

Great Entertainment, Realistic 3D, Simply Beautiful.

This IMAX blu-ray disc is an excellent way to show off 3D effects of your TV.
I first saw Deep Sea on an IMAX Screen in 2005, it looked great on the IMAX Screen in the Movie Theater and it looks equally stunning on the 120" screen in my home theater room. The cinematography of this IMAX movie is stunning and the eye popping 3D effects make you feel like your actually scuba diving in your living room.
This movie will appeal to everyone in the house young and old. My kids love watching it and don't realize they're not only being entertained but learning something as well.
Great Entertainment, Realistic, real world 3D, Simply beautiful!
Important Tips:
The heading on this Blu-ray reads bilingual but should read multilingual because there are several language and subtitle options, Not Just Two.
Money Saving Tip:
This disc is available with another IMAX 3D blu-ray called UNDER THE SEA as a two disc, Blu-Ray Set. The double disc blu-ray set is actually cheaper than purchasing this individual blu-ray by itself.
I though the double disc set was different and ordered both the double disc set and this single blu-ray only to find out the the DEEP SEA movie is identical in the double disc set. For the money you're better off to get the double disc set, you get two movies, twice the value at the same or lower price .... it's a Win-Win.
To find the other double disc set just search for UNDER THE SEA in the Amazon search bar and it should take you to the double blu-ray set.
Docked one star due to the price - you can by a double blu-ray set for the same price or less than this single blu-ray.
Happy Watching!

Documentario "molto buono"
Reviewed in Italy on July 7, 2014
Almeno secondo me.
Buona visione!

This is by far the best underwater film I have yet seen. Having watched dozens over the past few weeks, I thought I had seen some good ones, but this film sets new standards. The 3D is fantastic, with the clearest underwater images I have ever seen, and the filming in general is first class with wonderful, vibrant colors and amazing sequences.. I loved the sound track, and the narrators, I thought did a great job, with just the right amount of information and some humour.
The content is fantastic - a whole array of fabulous creatures, many of which I have not even glimpsed on those other documentaries. Their feeding and defensive/evasive behaviour is shown like in no other documentary I have seen.
I was totally mesmerised and enraptured by this brilliant production and cannot praise it highly enough.
