About “Dedicated”

Almost four years after the watershed triumph of Emotion, Carly Rae Jepsen released her fourth studio LP, Dedicated, on May 17, 2019. The record was announced on April 1, following months of speculation after the release of lead single “Party For One” on November 1, 2018.

Rumors circled for years about Jepsen’s follow-up to the critically-lauded Emotion (and its equally adored B-Sides). The singer first teased the arrival of new music back in December 2017, but she shared details of the album’s early stages back in an August 2016 Fader interview—revealing that she “really started [the new album] from a disco-inspired place…Like Donna Summer: dreamy, sexy disco.“ But with at least 100 songs in development for the project, Jepsen’s famously prolific style led her to experiment with a number of artists, including Jack Antonoff, PC Music, and Emotion collaborators Rami, Shellback, and Mattman & Robin.

On April 17 and 18, she took to social media to reveal the album’s cover art and tracklist, respectively.

With additional promotional singles “Now That I Found You”, “No Drug Like Me”, “Julien”, and “Too Much”, Dedicated includes both a continuation of Jepsen’s now-signature 80s synth-pop sound and a movement toward the groovier world of disco and funk.
