Our first movie of the year, the next chapter in the Roc A Fella universe… Death Of A Dynasty, I only know of this movie because my parents had it one of those old dvd ( mostly used for bootleg DVDs ) cases, so I’ve decided to give it a full watch many years later. This movie is quite a ride… a very odd one.
• We got Richie from The Bear as the protagonist, he goes full “B-Rad,” he raps Big Pimpin like twice, even briefly hums a Beanie Sigel track for the audience.
• Kevin Hart plays as multiple people, including P-Diddy.
• We got Rashida Jones when she was biracial (sorta)
• A random bald nigga that’s…
even though witnessing lorraine bracco decked out in rocawear saying “i’m taking beyoncé in ‘bootylicious’ to a whole other level” has fundamentally altered who i am as a person, i’m giving the movie one star for each minute of lorraine’s cameo (1)
Wearing its influences on its sleeve, those influences being complete trash as well.
This has all the trappings of a bad early 2000’s comedy. Mariah’s part was so small I didn’t even catch it on the first viewing! I had to scrub back through and when I found her scene, it took a few moments to make sure it was her as she’s almost lost in the edit.
A bit of an oddball (nothing wrong with that)- a bit too much yelling and shouting for my liking though.
