The Strangers: Chapter 1

Theatrical release date: May 17, 2024

It's been a long time coming, but The Strangers: Chapter 1 will finally be released in theaters very soon. This is the third film in the The Strangers film series, which is made up of two psychological horror films so far. But while the first two films were connected, The Strangers: Chapter 1 serves as the first installment of a new trilogy of standalone films. The other two films, The Strangers: Chapter 2 and The Strangers: Chapter 3 are expected to be released sometime in 2024 as well.

Renny Harlin, who helmed A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, directed The Strangers: Chapter 1 from a screenplay co-written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland. Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch stars as a young woman named Maya who drives across the country with her longtime boyfriend to relocate to the Pacific Northwest. But when their car suddenly breaks down in Venus, Oregon, they're forced to stay the night at an eerie Airbnb home. Soon, they find themselves coming in contact with three murderous masked strangers who are out for blood.

Teen Wolf's Froy Gutierrez stars as Maya's boyfriend, Ryan. Joining Petsch and Gutierrez in the cast are Rachel Shenton, Gabriel Basso, Ema Horvath, and Ella Bruccoleri.

Tarot

Theatrical release date: May 3, 2024

A bunch of young adults playing with tarot cards seems harmless right? Yes, but not if they break the sacred rule of Tarot reading which is to never use someone else's deck. In Tarot, this is what happens. When a young woman comes across a deck of tarot cards, she invites her friends to play with them. But unknowingly, they end up unleashing a sinister force trapped within the deck of cards, and soon, they each begin dying one by one in ways that are related to their fortunes that were told in the cards.

The cast is made up of a wonderful group of talented actors, such as Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika Vandanapu, Wolfgang Novogratz, Humberly González, Larsen Thompson, and Jacob Batalon.

I Saw The TV Glow

Theatrical release date: May 3, 2024

I Saw the TV Glow is an A24 movie and that right there should be enough reason to want to see it. A24 pretty much only makes and/or distributes good content, so we're expecting I Saw the TV Glow to be an entertaining watch. Honestly, it's hard to explain what the movie is about, but it's described as a psychological horror-thriller film. It stars Justice Smith as a teen boy named Owen who is introduced to a supernatural TV show by a classmate only for the show to end up being mysteriously canceled. Soon after, he finds his view of reality begin to crack.

Brigette Lundy-Paine, Ian Foreman, Helena Howard, Fred Durst, Danielle Deadwyler, and many others join Smith in the cast.

In a Violent Nature

Theatrical release date: May 31, 2024

In a Violent Nature will remind you of movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th with the plot centering around a bunch of teens being terrorized by a masked killer. After finding and taking an unknown locket they found in a collapsed fire tower in the woods, a group of teenagers unknowingly releases a vengeful spirit to whom the locket belongs. The undead killer is determined to find his stolen locket and soon goes on a killing spree, slaughtering anyone who gets in his way.

What makes this movie unique and different from other slashers is that it's told mostly from the antagonist's perspective. That alone makes this movie worth checking out!
