Ansonsten echt gut gelungen :)

short but pretty good

so if your someone who has played all the dead space games then you will notice a few scenes and moments right from the first game which is pretty cool and the animation is not that bad for being i think a movie from 2008

Play the game before you watch the film!!!
Rezension aus dem Vereinigten Königreich vom 2. Oktober 2009
I bought this to fill in the back story of events that happen before the game begins and it does just that. In saying this though, you can work out the details for yourself if you apply a little bit of brain power and listen/watch out for the clues in the game provided by the audio and video logs.
I would warn anyone thinking about getting this if you haven't played the game, there is a major plot spolier that is casually revealed during the film that you don't find out until about 75% of the way through the game. There is also an inconsistency with the weaponry used in the film compared to the game - I don't this this is simply an equipment difference between the two ships. I reckon it might be down to the animators for the film mis-interperating the descriptions of the mining tools that your game character uses.
I've seen a few criticisims of the animation quality on other reviews, its certainly not Pixar quality but its adequate for the task and I think that you can say the same about the film as a whole. It gets the job done, not a classic by any means but good enough and I'm not sure if it gains anything by opting for Blu Ray over DVD - I give it a B+.

Decent bridge between the DLC animated comics and the game.
Rezension aus den Vereinigten Staaten vom 10. November 2008
For those of you who aren't aware, there's significant story arcs precluding the Dead Space game. They come in the form of animated comics released an "issue" at a time on both XBL and PSN. These are free downloads and even if you don't purchase Downfall, I strongly recommend downloading the comic series.
Downfall takes place in the space between the animated comics and the game. It's a decent story about how a seemingly routine "planet crack" goes awry when a "marker" is found on the planet being excavated. There's a nice story here but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to watch to fully enjoy the game. I feel that although the animation was well done and the gore was on par with the game, the story just wasn't creepy or deep enough to really make it a hit.
The creepiness in the animated comics was largely lost in the feature film. Don't get me wrong, it's no Disney movie, I just don't think it was quite on par with its predecessor. Unfortunately, it seemed like one of the major climax/action sequences exists only in the deleted scenes and even then it only exists as an animatic (meaning a series of uncolored rough sketches displayed in succession with audio tracks overlayed, for those unfamiliar with the term.)
Finally I wasn't really impressed with the quality of the blu-ray format. There's some extras in the BluRay live section that I imagine don't exist in DVD form, but I still don't think that the Blu-Ray version is worth the extra $5. The promised cheat codes exist as easter eggs within the movie. Not a big deal for me, but just wanted to give a heads up to those who expect a card with codes listed on it when they open their case.
Honestly, it's not a bad movie by any means. I just think they could've pushed the creepiness a little more as well as putting higher highs and lower lows in the story arc. If you're really psyched about the franchise it's worth getting (again, I'd grab the DVD version and save your five dollars.) If you're on the fence, you may want to rent or borrow it first. If you have no intention of playing the game and are just looking for a good horror anime, I would look elsewhere.

a bleak film - involving space zombies!
Rezension aus dem Vereinigten Königreich vom 3. Februar 2017
This is a very entertaining animated movie, which serves as a prequel to the videogame "Dead Space" (see
Dead Space (Xbox 360)
). If you've played that game then you'll be aware that the story involves a dark and foreboding futuristic sci-fi adventure. It's set a few centuries from now, and humans have travelled far into the galaxy. On one distant world, where the colonists work as miners, a strange artifact is discovered ... and the consequences are chaotic. People go out of their minds, becoming raving mad. Carnage ensues, with this remote colony subjected to a vicious murder spree. And it's only then that the true horror starts - as the dead are re-animated!
This is a tale of a space zombie outbreak. With the colony dead, Earth sends a starship - with scientists and soldiers aboard - to find out what happened. And, unfortunately, the outbreak spreads ... There's lots of graphic violence, plenty of death scenes, and a load of blood. The monstrous zombies, who are deformed in various ways, seek only to kill. They're somehow being controlled the ancient alien relic found on the planet. And the crew of the starship must struggle to survive.
As a fan of both zombies and aliens, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It's a well-made animated movie, with good production values (unlike the follow-on: Dead Space - Aftermath [Blu-ray ]). It's a bleak tale, and one that's intended only for adult viewers. Overall, I highly recommend it. If you enjoyed the games then you'll probably like this film.
