A new to me outlaw type of country singer.
Kundenrezension aus Großbritannien 🇬🇧 am 19. Oktober 2010
I first got to hear David Allan Coe a few years back when a relative brought a few country cds back from the USA, and one of those cds was a best of D.A. Coe. I played it, and I immediately fell in love with three tracks on the album, "You never even called me by my name" "If that ain't country" and "Mona Lisa lost her smile" and I was hooked. This album has these three tracks on it, plus a few other rather good songs such as "Would you lay with me in a field of stone" and "Longhaired redneck" I could not get the album the relative had brought back, but this cd is just as good and has all the tracks that got me hooked in the first place. On the USA item there was a song called "I ain't gonna call Hank Williams Jnr. Junior any more" that I thought was very funny, but this essential set will do for now, as I really love these songs. If you want to know how to write a great country song, listen to how David Allan Coe and Steve Goodman came up with the song "You never even called me by my name". Another standout track is "If that ain't country" all about what it takes to write and sing country music. "Moma Lisa lost her smile" is just a lovely ballad. This is a cd that I love and play constantly, and I am still searching for the cd that first got me in to David Allan Coe. If you have never heard of David Allan Coe, check him out. Yours, Mrs. M Walsh. "Maw".
