Real Madrid have been linked with a number of players over the past few months and it remains to be seen if the club will end up making any significant moves after the World Cup or not. The squad depth is not the greatest and they definitely need more options in order to compete on all three fronts – La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey.

One area where Real Madrid are pretty stacked though is centre-back. They have three world-class options in the form of David Alaba, Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger, while Nacho Fernandez is a brilliant cover option to have as well.

But Nacho could potentially end up leaving soon. His current deal runs out at the end of the season and he has been linked with several clubs in recent times. On the other hand, despite the big names at the back, Real Madrid have struggled to keep clean sheets this season.

Thus, could the club end up going after another centre-back in the near future? As reported by Defensa Central (via Caught Offside), Real Madrid are considering making a move for Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez.

Martinez has certainly been very impressive since joining Manchester United in the summer from Ajax and established himself as one of the starters in Erik ten Hag’s team, despite there being questions about his lack of size when coming in.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will indeed make a move for him or not, but it is safe to say that signing the Argentine from Manchester United anytime soon is going to be extremely difficult.

Not only does he have a long-term contract with the club but is also believed to be one of Ten Hag’s favourite players.
