Dave Bautista, who played the beloved character Drax in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, addressed a possible return.

While speaking to Gizmodo's io9, Bautista opened up about his future as Drax. The actor made his debut in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, a role he reprised in several Marvel films, video games, and TV specials. However, following the conclusion of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, the actor revealed that he is "done with my journey as Drax."

Bautista continued, "When I said that I was done, I was really just done with my journey as Drax." Addressing the possibility of him starring in another Marvel project, the actor revealed that he still has "a relationship with Marvel. I’ve seen Kevin Feige again, Lou [D’Esposito] as recently as two weeks ago. And they know that I would be up for a role."

He added that, "I love the universe — the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I’d be all over it. I just would like the opportunity to do a bigger role, a different role. Maybe a deeper role. I’d love to have the opportunity to play, like an ominous villain in the superhero universe. Yeah. But never. I’m not done with it. But my journey with Drax is over."

Dave Bautista Has Another Upcoming Blockbuster on the Way

Although he's no longer planning on playing Drax, the actor has many exciting projects coming up. One of them is Dune: Part Two, where he reprised his role as Beast Rabban from the first film. The actor is supposed to have a bigger role than he did in the first one, and the continuation of the 2021 blockbuster is also projected to outperform the first film.

The second part of the adaptation, based on Frank Herbert's Dune novel, debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 97% and a Certified Fresh rating. The score is higher than 2021's Dune's 83% Certified Fresh rating. At the same time, Dune: Part Two's opening numbers are also expected to outperform the first film, with an estimated $65 million opening weekend, compared to 2021's Dune's $41 million opening at the box office.

Dune: Part Two also reunited Dave Bautista with another MCU star: Josh Brolin. The actor recently addressed his "man crush" on Brolin, revealing that, "God, I have a man crush, a huge man crush on Josh Brolin," he adds. "I love him as a performer, as a human being."

Dune: Part Two will be out in theaters starting March 1, 2024.
