Since taking over as general manager of the Green Bay Packers in 2018, Brian Gutekunst has made 61 total picks over six different drafts. He will enter the 2024 NFL draft with 11 more picks and a big chance to continue building a top roster — especially considering five of the 11 picks are in the top 100.
Reviewing the past can sometimes be the only way to understand what’s possibly coming in the future.
Here’s a complete breakdown of Gutekunst’s six-year draft history (2018-23) with the Packers.

First-round picks (8)
Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
2018 | Jaire Alexander | CB | Louisville | 9.54 | 21 |
2019 | Rashan Gary | EDGE | Michigan | 9.95 | 21 |
2019 | Darnell Savage | S | Maryland | 8.35 | 21 |
2020 | Jordan Love | QB | Utah State | 8.46 | 21 |
2021 | Eric Stokes | CB | Georgia | 9.38 | 22 |
2022 | Quay Walker | LB | Georgia | 9.63 | 21 |
2022 | Devonte Wyatt | DL | Georgia | 9.60 | 24 |
2023 | Lukas Van Ness | EDGE | Iowa | 9.39 | 21 |
His track record is clear: Gutekunst prefers and prioritizes young and elite athletes in the first round. Six of his eight first-rounders have been 21 years old; six have a RAS of 9.0 or better.
2024 draft picks: No. 25
Second-round picks (7)
Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
2018 | Josh Jackson | CB | Iowa | 9.27 | 22 |
2019 | Elgton Jenkins | OL | Miss. State | 9.57 | 23 |
2020 | A.J. Dillon | RB | Boston College | 9.16 | 22 |
2021 | Josh Myers | C | Ohio State | N/A | 22 |
2022 | Christian Watson | WR | NDSU | 9.96 | 22 |
2023 | Luke Musgrave | TE | Oregon State | 9.78 | 22 |
2023 | Jayden Reed | WR | Michigan State | 6.74 | 23 |
Reed looks like a bit of an exception when it comes to elite athletes in the second round, but the Packers clocked him at under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash and clearly had no issues with his size and athleticism. The Packers want elite athletes in the first two rounds. Interestingly enough, Gutekunst has picked an offensive player in the second round with six straight picks.
2024 draft picks: No. 41, No. 58
Third-round picks (6)
Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
2018 | Oren Burks | LB | Vanderbilt | 9.73 | 23 |
2019 | Jace Sternberger | TE | Texas A&M | 5.25 | 22 |
2020 | Josiah Deguara | TE | Cincinnati | 6.67 | 23 |
2021 | Amari Rodgers | WR | Clemson | 5.37 | 21 |
2022 | Sean Rhyan | OL | UCLA | 9.35 | 21 |
2023 | Tucker Kraft | TE | South Dakota State | 9.68 | 22 |
Is the third-round curse broken? Kraft looks like a real find after a highly encouraging finish to the 2023 season, and Rhyan even rotated in as a starter at right guard and could be the early favorite to start there in 2024. Avoiding the temptation to take swings on average athletes might be the key here. The Sternberger-Deguara-Rodgers run was bust-bust-bust.
2024 draft picks: No. 88, No. 91
Fourth-round picks (5)
Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
2018 | J’Mon Moore | WR | Missouri | 8.43 | 22 |
2021 | Royce Newman | OL | Ole Miss | 8.72 | 23 |
2022 | Romeo Doubs | WR | Nevada | 8.28 | 22 |
2022 | Zach Tom | OL | Wake Forest | 9.92 | 23 |
2023 | Colby Wooden | DL | Auburn | 9.24 | 22 |
Four of the five remain on the roster, and Doubs and Tom are key players. All five had a RAS of 8.0 or better. Historically, the Packers have done well with receivers and line of scrimmage players in the fourth round.
2024 draft picks: No. 125 overall
Fifth-round picks (10)
Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
2018 | Cole Madison | OL | Wash. State | 4.59 | 23 |
2018 | JK Scott | P | Alabama | N/A | 22 |
2018 | Marquez Valdes-Scantling | WR | USF | 9.27 | 23 |
2019 | Kingsley Keke | DL | Texas A&M | 7.99 | 22 |
2020 | Kamal Martin | LB | Minnesota | N/A | 21 |
2021 | TJ Slaton | DL | Florida | 7.96 | 23 |
2021 | Shemar Jean-Charles | CB | App. State | 4.27 | 22 |
2022 | Kingsley Enagbare | LB | S. Carolina | 6.26 | 22 |
2023 | Sean Clifford | QB | Penn State | 9.04 | 24 |
2023 | Dontayvion Wicks | WR | Virginia | 9.17 | 21 |
Sixth-round picks (10)
Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
2018 | Equanimeous St. Brown | WR | Notre Dame | 9.84 | 21 |
2019 | Ka’dar Hollman | CB | Toledo | 9.22 | 23 |
2019 | Dexter Williams | RB | Notre Dame | 8.17 | 22 |
2020 | Jon Runyan | OL | Michigan | 8.45 | 22 |
2020 | Jake Hanson | C | Oregon | 3.74 | 23 |
2020 | Simon Stepaniak | OL | Indiana | N/A | 22 |
2021 | Cole Van Lanen | OL | Wisconsin | 8.49 | 22 |
2021 | Isaiah McDuffie | LB | Boston College | 7.33 | 21 |
2023 | Karl Brooks | DL | Bowling Green | 5.87 | 22 |
2023 | Anders Carlson | K | Auburn | N/A | 24 |
Brooks made big plays as a rookie, and Carlson still has a shot to be the long-term answer at kicker. McDuffie could be a starter at linebacker, and Runyan just signed a $10 million per year deal with the Giants.
2024 draft picks: No. 201, No. 219 (compensatory)

Year | Name | Pos | School | RAS | Age |
