Product Description
From Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, the authors behind the Stargate series, and the studio that brought you Lost Girl, comes Dark Matter, an intergalactic story of strangers chasing their pasts towards an uncertain future.
Buried in the black murk of space, a stowed-away crew suddenly awakens from stasis aboard the castaway space ship known as the “Raza.” With no memory of their pasts or why they are onboard in the first place, this rag-tag crew has no choice but to roam the frontiers of the galaxy searching for answers.
On their voyage they encounter rebel space armies, a zombiefied ship crew, derelict androids, and intergalactic bounty hunters—all attempting to pull the team further from the truth. Even the Raza itself contains mysteries that the crew must solve. As they journey through space, these seven strangers begin to discover that the biggest obstacle standing in the way of their pasts may not be the danger waiting around every corner, but the darkness lurking within themselves.

Six strangers wake up )n a spaceship from suspension; none of the six people remember who they are, why they are there and adopt their names from the order they woke up in. They discover that they may be thugs for hire but elect to help others as they try and track down their identities. Their ship, the Raza has tremendous firepower. They also have an Android on board but she can’t tell them anything about who they are either or who took their identities or why.
The series has terrific performances from a strong cast all around.
The Blu-ray release, like the DVD, looks quite good with a very nice transfer with nice depth, image quality and detail. Colors looks quite nice as well. Spreading thirteen episodes over three discs allows the series to having the breathing room for good resolution.
The special features are limited with bloopers and some featurettes on the series.
Unfortunately season 2 is only available in DVD and that is unacceptable. And season 3 is completely unavailable.
This is the 3rd time I started buying a show only to discover most of the show is unavailable to buy.
Lesson learned. I don’t care how good a show is I will not buy any of it unless the entire show is up for sale.
..... There is an odd thing about the set (maybe just the Blu-ray) that I have not seen before. When you watch an episode, when it is over goes right into the next episode rather than default back to the main menu. I've never seen this in any other TV series set, DVD or Blu-ray. Certainly not a killer to buying this set. No extras either.
..... To sum up, great series so far, great cast and storyline.

I tried hard to like this, I am a huge sci-fi fan and often they don't get the budgets due to their less than mainstream audience but this is pretty bad.
The end for me was the zombie episode, the set was obviously a large ocean going ship (you could even see where they missed relabelling the life preserver locker), the acting was especially bad and without giving away any spoilers, completely unrealistic fight scenes yet again. In other words, I didn't even make it off of disk 1 of 3, it is that bad.
I only give this one a two because of the first episode; it actually is pretty good and a very unique plot....unfortunately it really goes downhill from there. If you could get this for under $10 it may be worth it but certainly not at $40+.
