The forward of University of Chile, Luciano Pons, spoke with the ESPN F90 program waiting for Sunday’s game against Deportes Iquique. The blues will be local in Concepción with the possibility of remaining undefeated and moving away at the top of the table against the runner-up.
And one of the topics that Pons addressed was the diminished present of Lucas Assadiwho broke into Chuncho together with Darío Osorio and fell into a hole from which he has not been able to get out despite showing the conditions of a different player.
Despite the gap, Luciano Pons has no doubts in Assadi’s ability and is confident that the young player trained at the University of Chile will be able to find his best level.
“I had to talk to a teammate and I told him that Lucas is the best player on the team. Technically he is very good and he can easily get three or four players off you,” said Pons.

The forward adds that “I see him training every day with great desire to fight for a place in every game. He hasn’t had to play much, but every day he shows the desire he has, he shows that he wants to learn.”
“Hopefully he will soon have his big opportunity, the coach already said that we will all have the opportunity, and that he can show what Lucas Assadi is. For me, he is one of the best players on the team,” he said about his teammate.
On the other hand, Pons highlighted the internal work carried out by the leaders of the dressing room, these being Marcelo Díaz, Matías Zaldivia and Leandro Fernández.
“We have great leaders in the locker room like Marcelo, Zaldivia and Lea. They are the ones who show us the way. We all train at the same time for a position because we try to take the U to the top, where it deserves to be,” he stated.

After beating Huachipato, Universidad de Chile will return to action this Sunday, May 5 at home against Deportes Iquique, for the eleventh date of the National Championship. The duel is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. at the Ester Roa stadium in Concepción.
