The Town of Danvers, incorporated in 1752, is located in southwest Essex County, about 20 miles northeast of Boston. Danvers is primarily a residential community, occupying a land area of approximately 13.3 square miles, with an approximate population of 27,000. The bulk of our industrial and commercial activity is concentrated along Routes 1, 114, and 128 and Interstate 95. Downtown Danvers features a variety of retail and dining options.
Danvers is fortunate to have many open space and recreation opportunities including a vibrant marina, Endicott Park, and a 4.3-mile rail trail that links schools, downtown Danvers, parks, residential areas, and trails in the neighboring towns of Peabody, Wenham, and Topsfield.

Endicott Park
Endicott Park's 165 acres is home to some of the most unique and varied recreational land on the North Shore. The park's landscape includes pastoral views, historic farm buildings, orchards, woodlands, and marshes, with a network of trails and gravel roads for stress free exploration of the park. Passive recreation activities for all ages abound, ranging from hiking, fishing, picnicking and enjoying the playground in the warmer months, to sledding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter.

Library
In December 1856, the American banker, philanthropist, and Danvers native George Peabody gave $10,000 for the establishment of a Danvers “branch” of the Peabody Institute Library of South Danvers (now Peabody, MA).

Open Space
The Open Space and Recreation Advisory Committee (OSRAC) manages our Towns open space and recreation plans, land acquisitions and area maintenance. The many open space areas Danvers has to offer are great places for visitors to canoe, kayak, hike, bike, and bird-watch.

Rail Trail
The Danvers Rail Trail is a 4 1/3-mile non-motorized shared-use path linking schools, downtown Danvers, parks, residential areas, and trails in the neighboring towns of Peabody, Wenham, and Topsfield.
