Cheat, the new Netflix quiz show hosted by former EastEnders star Danny Dyer and comedian and Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Taylor, has landed its release date.

The series will premiere on Wednesday, March 1, with the first four episodes being released at the same time. The following four episodes will drop a week later on Wednesday, March 8, before the final four parts air on Wednesday, March 15.

The official logline for the series, which was announced in May 2022, reads: "Danny Dyer and Ellie Taylor host this high-stakes quiz show where contestants can literally CHEAT their way to a fortune!

"In a binge-worthy battle of brains, wit… and barefaced lying, four brave players have their knowledge put to the ultimate test as they bluff and blag across three rounds to avoid elimination and build a potential jackpot of over £50,000.

"But however you play it, there's just one crucial rule… don't get caught!"

Upon the show's announcement, Ellie wrote: "Quiz shows, cheating, Danny Dyer calling people slippery little bastards, fun... Then this is the show for you.

"Plus crucially, my outfits are absolutely banging (I imagine Alexander Armstrong tweeted this exact sentence when Pointless was announced)."

Danny departed from his role on EastEnders in a dramatic Christmas Day episode, which saw his character Mick Carter lost at sea as he sought to rescue Linda.

Dyer, who has previously hosted BBC primetime quiz show The Wall, recently described his last day on the set of EastEnders, saying: "We had the water tank stuff as well which they filled with broccoli juice. It's like a bath temperature so it's quite nice. [During] my last scene, I was all tearful and I was all emotional.

"I think that we tried to attack and do something a little bit more," he continued. "I wanted it to be a bit more cinematic and just take EastEnders to another level because I don't think we're known for our show being sexy or anything, we tackle really tough subjects."

Cheat will stream on Netflix from March 1. EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
