I can't believe it's been three years! I have so many mixed feelings with this album. When it first came out, I was in a pretty vulnerable place so songs like Anyone, The Way You Don't Look at Me, California Sober, and her Mad World cover were favorites. Looking back, I understand a lot of the criticism that it's almost too personal. Which seems to be very common in pop music now.

I loved the symbolism at the time, but the title and it being released pretty much along side her documentary made it really hard to appreciate the art for being art. I remember watching reaction videos and a lot of songs (melon cake, butterfly, icu) were unappreciated because people didn't know the meaning behind the songs.

DWTD...TAOSO feels like an album in Demi's discography that was made for herself and most of it probably should have been left in the drafts, lol. It's almost uncomfortable to listen to at times.

All of my criticism aside, I think there's some beautiful musical moments. The lyrics in Anyone, Dancing With The Devil, Easy, and Good Place are all standouts. The collaborations are stellar. I LOVE Easy and What Other People Say.

It's a good album, and I think it was an important project for Demi to make. But I have a hard time with it when it was followed by the best project of Demi's career, Holy Fvck, which would have made an even better "comeback" album following her OD than DWTD...TAOSO did.
