He stood six feet, four inches in height, weighed 250, showed great strength and speed, and was a devastating blocker. His blocking helped the Wolverines maintain one of the nation's finest running games. They were 18-3 in Big Ten games and 25-6 overall in his time. They were Big Ten Champions in 1969. Dierdorf made all-conference twice and consensus All-America in 1970. He was chosen for the East-West Shrine Game and Hula Bowl and for the 1971 College All-Star Game. Dierdorf played 13 years with the St. Louis Cardinals in the NFL 1971-1983. He was all-pro five times, was named the league's best offensive lineman 1976-77-78. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996. He joined CBS TV and became a star again as a broadcaster.
