We have built a civilization based on a story that we are separate and superior to nature. Our survival now depends on us telling a new story. A privilege to speak at the beautiful Sydney Town Hall for #TEDx

I have no words to express my deep sadness for the loss of Will Steffen who passed away last night. He had been one of the most influential individuals in global change science programs, director of GCTE, IGBP, and driver of ESSP that led to the creation of the

A quick acknowledgement of this group who stayed long after the screening in Tamworth last night to discuss the challenges of talking to friends and family about climate change in their mining heavy, Barnaby led region. Full respect for their passion and bravery.

We're getting a great response to the Regenerating Australia tour. Some really inspiring solutions are being submitted for funding and a healthy, decentralised regenerative network is growing. So many talented Australians ready to take meaningful action.

We asked a variety of Australians what kind of country they'd like to live in by 2030. This film is a vision of what they said. Come along for a night of film, music, a $2 million solutions fund & lively discussion. Under 18s free theregenerators.co/regenerating-a

What would Australia look like in 2030 if we simply listened to the needs of its people. 🌏 From @DamonGameau (2040) comes Regenerating Australia, a hypothetical news report from 2030 based on interviews with Australians who were asked about their hopes & dreams for the future.

Nothing will change until we at least acknowledge the structural flaws of our system, place caps on chemical/plastic use, embed the true cost of using these materials, incentive biodegradable or re-usable resources & penalise those who's products end up in landfill or waterways.

Big news yesterday that humans have smashed through the 5th planetary boundary. 350,000 synthetic chemicals now damaging our soils, waterways and human health (50x since 1950) plus a 79% increase in plastics since 2000 - and yet not a single report in any Australian news outletπŸ‘‡

Vale magical David. I was sitting with him in a tiny boat approaching the Venice film festival press gallery. In our tiny boat was also Sophia Loren. He jumped onto the roof, took off his shirt and shouted "I'm the real Crocodile Dundee". The press lapped him up, Sophia bristled.

Witnessing the rise of powerful, female Independents representing the needs of their communities and pushing for climate action feels like a historic moment for our country. Terrific and inspiring.

How can we really expect to 'save' the planet when so many of us remain disconnected to the tiny piece of it we inhabit? Regeneration begins with place. Becoming a custodian of your own precious place can provide you with a strength you never knew you had

Is it beneficial to keep seeing climate change as an opponent? When we β€˜fight’ climate change, we β€˜other’ nature and perpetuate the myth that it is separate from us. Perhaps climate change is really a mentor, highlighting the systemic changes required to get to a better world?

When we let people like Matt Canavan sit on panels to discuss the IPCC report, the narrative gets hijacked. So much time is wasted refuting his claims. Time we don't have. In a code red for humanity, we need panels of climate experts and problem solvers. Can provide a list

The world’s oldest living organism is a patch of Mediterranean seagrass. It is estimated to be 200,000 years old. It is has sequestered so much carbon that it sits on 36 feet of carbon rich soil. Nature has already developed the best carbon capture and storage technologies.

Key aspect of IPCC report is the impact on the earth's water cycle. More intense rainfalls coming. Building soil health and planting trees are essential to pull down carbon but also to capture water in the landscape, slowing down runoffs and mitigating damaging flood waters.

In a sane world, tonight's IPCC report would get the same coverage as the Olympics, would be live streamed into living rooms on mainstream networks and governments and businesses would have to respond tomorrow with their immediate actions or face sanctions.

What a disgrace. Since pledging to the Paris Agreement, the world's largest economies have spent $3.3 trillion on fossil fuel subsidies. Another gold medal to Australia who increased their subsidies by 48% during the period. theguardian.com/environment/20
