      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have proven comedic chemistry, but Daddy's Home suffers from a dearth of genuinely funny ideas - and lacks enough guts or imagination to explore the satirical possibilities of its premise.

Russell H Could have been funnier but these two are great together. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Willie V Daddy's Home was a really enjoyable film for me. Will Ferrell plays a character you've probably seen him portray in many other movies, but he still brings his signature humor, and his chemistry with Mark Wahlberg is great. Linda Cardellini is fantastic in her role, although I wasn't a fan of how some of her character moments were written. Scarlett Estevez and Owen Vaccaro were adorable as the kids, even with the typical challenges of child actors. Hannibal Buress adds a fun element during his screen time. If you're seeking a feel-good time, this movie is a solid watch, as long as you don't mind it being a blend of elements from various family films. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Will S Almost perfect, but that plot does have a few holes. Definitely still a fun and good movie to watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Alyssa E The movie was wildly bad and didn't even make sense. That family was awful and did NOT deserve Brad. The fact he didn't leave willingly and she even kicked him out was just insane. I'm sorry but he had nothing to apologize for and she (the wife/mom) should've stepped in a lot more. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review John B very funny underrated movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review necrodiablo@netherworld T Nice comedy, kinda cliché here and there but overall it got the job done. Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com It's Ferrell and Wahlberg who keep this engine revving like it does, a statement that shouldn't come as a shock for all of those who watched the pair's 2010 hit The Other Guys. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 16, 2016 Full Review Udita Jhunjhunwala Scroll.in Begins with an interesting premise but does not pack in enough satire into its contrived and predictable screenplay. Apr 15, 2016 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times That's one problematic comedy. Rated: 2/4 Jan 7, 2016 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Here's one of those comedies like Meet the Parents where an awkward family situation escalates, and everyone onscreen behaves so farcically that their inane behavior can only be explained by the requirements of the script. Rated: 1/4 Apr 23, 2022 Full Review Ian Brill Battleship Pretension Daddy's Home promises a battle between two forms of masculinity and fatherhood, and the implications of that could be fascinating. But what we get is as intense as a sparring match. Apr 13, 2021 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Has its giddy moments but by-and-large but doesn't contain enough "dad jokes" to make it worthwhile.
