I know this is supposed to be a sleazy biker film, the outlaw biker film genre as I'm told by wikipedia. However, for such a film, it had too many scenes with side characters that just didn't add to much. For example, it had too many scenes that were like Leonardo DiCaprio painting naked women. Bruce Dern is a mean guy over here, and that's all his character is.

Ahh, the outlaw biker film! A drive in staple of the '60s and the '70s. Quite a few of these got churned out to cinemas, bolstered by the huge success of films like The Wild One and Easy Rider, dozens of these films came out over a period that lasted a little over a decade. The genre burned itself out in the late '70s due to over saturation. The popularity of these films stems from the counter culture movement, where people were obsessed and inspired by anything that went against "the establishment".
The Cycle Savages is one of these films.…
Wow, Bruce Dern in, Cycle Savages is such a sad, sad man, in his dark stubbly beard and worn looking, sleeveless, denim vest with rebellious looking patches. But he doesn't display his insecurity in an expected, sad sack sense. Instead he hides it behind anger and hostility, and lashing out at random bystanders minding their own business in stores, or on the street, or sitting on benches enjoying a refreshing ice cream cone. Keege (Dern), the Cycle Savage is all consumed in his rage for those who seem to be comfortable in their own skin. So he's severely threatened by a new in town artist who happens to be drawing pictures of passers by that happen to be HIM and…
A brutally dull sketch artist accidentally threatens Casey Kasem's sex slave operation, so a biker gang devises an oddly elaborate plan to crush his sweet hands. Worth watching as proof that Bruce Dern's skeeve could carry an entire motion picture.
Bruce Dern plays another biker psycho in THE CYCLE SAVAGES, which came out the same year Dernsie’s buds Fonda, Hopper, and Nicholson rode high in EASY RIDER. Fans of fuzz guitars and the Jerry Styner (THE DEVIL’S 8) score are the audience for this brutal biker flick produced by unctuous deejay Casey Kasem (THE INCREDIBLE 2-HEADED TRANSPLANT) and future California lieutenant governor Mike Curb.
Dern is Keeg, the misogynist leader of a biker gang that kidnaps young girls for his brother’s white slavery operation. Dern gets offended when artist Chris Robinson (STANLEY) sketches the outlaws terrorizing an outdoor burger joint, so he slices Robinson’s tummy, forces Melody Patterson to distract him while the gang destroys Robinson’s pad, and squeezes the…
Goddammit, I think I may be in love with Bruce Dern now.
Seriously, this film thinks it's low-budget biker exploitation, but (only) Dern takes it to another level. And not only because he's hot, either.
Although I do have to object to a factual error. The artist character implies to the girl that (nude) models for art classes get paid a lot of money. I promise you that is not the case.
Let he who has never obsessed about cutting off an artist’s hands cast the first stone.
A outlaw biker exploitation film that is carried solely on the back of actor bruce dern who plays a compete dirtbag of a biker gang leader!
Its fine but not one of the better examples of the genre!
The Cycle Savages
Seen on: tubi
Bruce Dern is fucking electric in this, but the savage truth is that whenever he's not on screen, this film is a stationary cycling bore
