- Bairbre NDublin, Ireland34 contributionsThis amazing site is about 38 kms from Cuernavaca. It was first occupied in 200BC but developed into an urban centre between AD 700-900. At its peak it is believed to have had a population of 20000 people. It features a temple and pyramids and ball courts and an observatory.Written January 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah B2 contributionsI just returned from an amazing one week trip to Oaxaca organized by the Spanish Language Institute. It was fantastic from beginning to end. We had morning language classes and went on wonderful excursions everyday to villages where you can see the wonderful crafts with hands-on learning. We also visited the amazing archeological sites in the area and had a day of Oaxacan cooking classes. The teachers and guide were all so friendly, informed and fun!! A good time was had by all!!!Written November 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Barb19 contributionsGreat site which included archeological artifacts and historical contexts of Mexican history with great descriptions. QR code provided additional information. - lyndasSFSan Francisco, CA8 contributionsI spent a week with Anders in Cuernavaca and highly recommend their program for anyone interested in improving their Spanish. In my opinion, Anders’ one-on-one approach is the only way to go. Not only will you focus on exactly what you personally need to elevate your comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, you will get an enormous amount of practice actually speaking the language which is the real key to becoming a Spanish speaker!
I did their 7 day program and included the evening class/activities. I was a bit worried that it would be “too much” but I wanted to get the most out of my time in Mexico. As it turned out, I needn’t have worried as Anders does a great job pacing the program and building in breaks to ensure students don’t burn out. The teachers were excellent. I worked with four different instructors and they each brought a slightly different approach which also helped with potential fatigue. The field trips (I added on the gastronomy program) were great and also broke up the “class time” nicely.
The Anders house is lovely - very comfortable, safe and immaculately maintained. The staff is wonderful and the meals were excellent. They keep a drink fridge stocked for guests which I really appreciated.
On the flight home I reviewed my notebook and was really struck by how much I had covered and learned during my week. One of my native Spanish-speaking friends commented that my accent had improved considerably and I tested into a local conversational language school at a level much higher than I thought I would. I am already thinking about when I can go back :-)Written April 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Buy there or bring your own picnic. Sit for hours or stroll for clean, unencumbered exercise.Written April 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bairbre NDublin, Ireland34 contributionsWe visited this cathedral and were lucky to receive a guided tour form a local historian. It's a remarkable building and the frescoes tell a tale of missionaries form Cuernavaca led by St. Félipe who were crucified in Japan. There was a Mass on Sunday with a bishop and six priests and a beautiful choir. The natural light streaming through the stained glass windows and an abundance of incense made it quite etherealWritten January 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marc DChelsea, Canada62 contributionsThe gardens have been closed for reparations since the last earthquake but expect to be open again in March 2019. Check before going. Then note that address has been confused. Matamoros, mentioned in the TripAdvisor by listing, is in the Centro; in fact, the Jardin and museo are located on Mariano Matamoros in a nearby suburban neighborhood of Acapatzingo.Written February 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lance HBoerne, TX1,264 contributionsThis was quite enjoyable and included on our tour. If it hadn't been included, I'm not sure if I would have paid to get in, but I would have been wrong! There's a lot of history here as well as the relaxing nature of the gardens. Worth a visit if you are already nearby.Written February 16, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Barb19 contributionsSmall archeological site. Nothing novel if you’ve been to other sites. It is a quick visit in the middle of a residential area. You can skip this without missing much but it’s always fun to wander by ruins.Written August 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HarveyAntigua, Guatemala32 contributionsWe did not get to visit here as the Museum was closed due to the earthquake there was no indication as to when it would reopen so the number of stars that we've given this is totally irrelevantWritten October 27, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
