The movie is a small personal favourite. So I guess it was about time that I picked up the soundtrack as well. By this time, Ry Cooder was well-versed in creating film scores, and yes, he was probably the right man for the job. But unfortunately, I must say that detached from the film, these songs just aren't as powerful. There's nothing wrong here either, but I just didn't get carried away like I thought I would be. Ironically, the album's best track is; "Down in Mississippi", a song that wasn't in the movie at all, but exclusive to this release. But now it's probably time for me to revisit the movie.

I really hated the movie but they did do something right, getting Ry Cooder to do the soundtrack. It really sounds like one his albums also which also means you might want to keep your finger close to the skip button but there is some gems to be found. Ironically the best song on the album ("Down in Mississippi") wasn't even in the movie.

An average movie that is lifted above that level by the music. It's a way to pat Hollywood movie, but in spite of it's self, it's pretty good. And the music is certainly the best part of the movie. Ry has become very comfortable by this time with the big production sound that he has been using for a while now. The blues are a natural for his slide guitar.

Ry Cooder at his very best. I would of given this 5 stars but it wasn't long enough.
some of the best slide guitar ever recorded.

Not really into this type of blues, but for some reason I really like this album.

It would have had 5 stars if it wasn't for Steve Vai. I'm sorry but I don't like virtuosity.
