By making this a conclusion crossed my mind that I want to share. In the old days, mainly hardcore punk kids played this fusion of hardcore and thrash as they progressed musically and advanced technically with their instruments, and that's probably why all those albums are so good and innovative. Now in the new age crossover thrash play only metal dudes, as a joke, making it very dull and repetitive... ok, with few exceptions.

I know that this is not coming as a big surprise, but let the best be the best
2 | 2.D.R.I. | |||
Top of the top!
The band that become synonymous with the genre. They don't have a single week spot in their discography. Started as fast hardcore and crossovered to thrash on third LP Crossover (1987). It is hard to chose their best release, but in my book they reached a peak with forth LP 4 of a Kind (1988)
3 | 3.Cro-Mags | |||
Alpha & omega of crossover!
Their first LP is considered as one of the most influential hardcore albums. After that they began to crossover to thrash and released pure perfection Best Wishes (1989). Despite all internal problems each and every album they released is solid. We can only guess how much more great albums and success they would have if it wasn't so much hostility between Joseph, Flanagan and Mayhew.
4 | 4.Suicidal Tendencies
The fathers of crossover "Venice style".
First four albums are pure gold. Their most representative crossover release would probably be Join the Army (1987), although subsequent two albums are much better. The punk-rock/funky style of last 15 years cast a dark shadow over their years of greatness.
5 | 5.Crumbsuckers | |||
New York's finest!
With their crossover bible Life of Dreams (1986) they were at the forefront of the crossover movement on the East Coast. They were too good so they burned out fast.
6 | 6.Agnostic Front | |||
The godfathers!
Hardcore legends entered into the world of crossover with their first LP Cause for Alarm (1986), that still stands as one of their best releases.
7 | 7.Excel | |||
Blasting hell!
Emerging from the L.A. Venice scene forefronted by Suicidal Tendencies, Excel moved beyond merely following the footsteps of ST, and carved their own style of crossover. For all these years I can't set my mind which one of their first two albums is better, but on this day, and this day only, I would say The Joke's on You (1989).
