      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

With its serious-minded story, Crisis aims higher than many crime thrillers -- but uneven acting and a spotty script mean the end result falls short of its goals.

Tammie I thought the acting was great and I enjoyed the two overlapping stories of the mom and the DEA agent and the related story of the professor's challenges with pharma and university funding. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/17/21 Full Review K B The main DEA officer says "f**k" every sentence. It's overly forced & he's the worst actor in the movie. Besides him it would've been a great movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Kyle J I liked the three-stories plot line. The acting was very good. I wish the DEA story was clearer. The professor (Oldman?) was superb. I was happy about the ending(s). Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Mark R Armie Hammer = plumber Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Hatsuhito S 社会的意義だけで充分にある作品。科学的根拠は自身で調べる必要がある。 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/23 Full Review Yael L This is an opioid movie on acid. Which is an odd choice. Any attempt at depth is discarded for a fast-paced plot-driven script. This means there's no character development or any slow moments in which the viewer might invest emotionally in the people or the events on screen. A superficial, three-pronged look at the actants in the crisis - victim, DEA officer and a scientist. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

tt stern-enzi WXIX-TV (Cincinnati, OH) Jarecki doesn't pretend to offer solutions, but his film does reveal how lost we can all get in the mix. Rated: B Aug 27, 2021 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian I enjoyed Crisis. The performances are first rate and the tension builds throughout to a climax and then an aftermath. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 26, 2021 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's a union of crime and politics of the kind that you might expect to find on one of the streaming services, but it's given extra heft by its broad canvas and ambitious segues. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog A relatively second-rate script and lackluster direction on Jarecki’s part leaves the film a sadly less than riveting experience. Sep 17, 2023 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India While Crisis falls short of its potential, it's not a complete failure - it simply needed more attention to the story development. Rated: 3/5 Mar 27, 2023 Full Review Alex Behan Stuff.co.nz Ultimately, it's hard to get emotionally invested with these thinly written characters. Dec 17, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
