LISTEN: Carrie Underwood’s ‘Crazy Angels’ Is An Arena-Ready Girl Power Anthem

Ahead of the June 10 release of Carrie Underwood’s much-anticipated new album, Denim & Rhinestones, the superstar is giving fans another taste of the project with the release of “Crazy Angels.”

Out now, the upbeat track is an anthem for females everywhere as it celebrates “the girl next door” who also has a “wild side.” 

“Guess I’m one of those crazy angels/ Tilted halo with a neon shine/ Call me one of those crazy angels/ Even good girls wanna have a good time/ Heaven knows I’m flying low tonight,” she sings on the chorus. 

The guitar-driven tune was made for arenas and would be a great addition to Underwood’s live show. 

“Crazy Angels” was co-written by Underwood alongside her longtime collaborator David Garcia and Lydia Vaughan, who co-wrote “If I Didn’t Love You,” Underwood’s chart-topping duet with fellow country superstar Jason Aldean. 

Arriving on June 10 via UMG Nashville, Denim & Rhinestones features 12 tracks, including its lead single “Ghost Story,” “Crazy Angels,” and the recently released ‘80s-inspired title track. 

“We cover a lot of ground on this album,” Underwood shared in a press release. ”We have a lot of songs that have a bit of a ‘throwback’ feel, but they sound super fresh. I grew up listening to so many different kinds of music and that is extremely evident in this body of work.”

“These are musical influences that are all in me and work their way out, and I just decided this time not to get in their way,” the Oklahoma native added. “I think this whole album ended up being a big reflection of me as a person and as an artist.”

Underwood’s album release date is a pretty significant date for the “Ghost Story” singer as this year will mark her 17-year anniversary since her Grand Ole Opry debut, which took place on June 10, 2005, just two weeks after Underwood won American Idol.

Denim & Rhinestones is the follow-up to 2018’s Cry Pretty. Since then, Underwood also released a Christmas album, My Gift, in 2020, and a Gospel album, My Savior, in 2021.

Carrie Underwood recently wrapped another sold-out run of her REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency at the Resorts World Theatre. She’ll return to Sin City for her next engagement on May 11-21.

On April 30, the mother of two will head to Indio, California to headline the legendary Stagecoach Festival.
