What travelers are saying
- Connor MMahomet, IL50 contributionsI drove through Marion on a business trip and have always meant to stop here as I have distant ancestors who were from there. The staffers there Sam and Sharon gave an exceptionally good tour. I had no idea how bad the period known as "Bloody Williamson" was and the multiple interlocking conflicts. This is not only an important history that is worthy of remembering, it is a timely and somewhat disturbing one. Williamson has a story that really has regional and national significance in terms of its history.
The museum itself is very well organized and the research archivist Sharon has done a great job organizing the research collections.
My only two critiques are relatively minor and have to do with the how they use the space. The building is huge and I wonder if they couldn't repurpose one or two of the rooms to create rotating exhibits that change regularly. I imagine that would draw people in regularly. The other is just a request for a little more signage to show what artifacts are. Overall I found it one of the best small museums I've been to.Written August 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a scenic drive inside the park that is worth the time to drive. Interesting history that during WW II there was an ordinance plant here that is now being used for other purposes?? They just built a new Visitor Center here that when fully open will have a large display area. Unfortunately when we were here it was not finished yet.Written April 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Keith BWayne, MI463 contributionsOne of the better independent league parks. Good sight lines, plenty of bathrooms and concessions, and they actually let you on the infield to view the Friday night fireworks.
Tickets are dirt cheap, another reason to visit. Easy access to I-57.Written August 28, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s a beautiful spot with lots of interesting structures and rustic decor. The flora added vibrant splashes of color as well. I can see this being a great place to sit under a shade tree and meditate or watch the ripples on the water.Written June 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Double "Ollie" WinnerRiverside, CA2,822 contributionsAs antique malls go, this is a pretty good one. It doesn't look like much as a facility, but the goodies inside were excellent. Priced to sell. Many rare and difficult to find. Friendly staff.Written May 3, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
