I enjoy working with a variety of individuals, couples, families and other systems in many different situations . "Systems" refers to everyone around and involved with the individual. My clients live in a variety of family systems: biologically related, joined by adoption or other circumstances, impacted by having a member with special needs, blended via divorce and re- marriage , co-parented by same sex parents, trans parents, or raised by a single parent. Regardless, you will be treated with respect. Whatever challenges you face, I will receive you with an open mind and help you find relief and change.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I try to look at many aspects to help guide changes that acknowledge the relationships and connections in your life.
We all face challenges in our lives. Sometimes we get through them easily and sometimes we get stuck. Sometimes the thoughts of past challenges stick with us and influence our day-to-day activities. I believe that it can be helpful to talk through these thoughts and situations to gain clarity and decide how you want to move forward. I see my role as being a supportive, non-judgmental, safe place to explore your concerns. Everyone's needs are different, but I can help you make plans for changes in your behaviors or to find a new way of thinking about difficulties.

I specialize in marital and relationship counseling and have helped countless couples to resolve old wounds and communicate in new ways that foster safety, connection, and intimacy.
Relationships aren't always easy... At times they may be our greatest source of ease and joy, but every couple knows that they can also be our greatest source of frustration and struggle. You may be asking yourself, "How did we get here?" or "How are we ever going to make this better?" Reaching out for help may not be easy either, but it's an acknowledgment that your happiness and your relationship are worth fighting for, and that's a good place to start. I'll help you to 1) Look with clarity at what has come between you, and 2) Do the vital work to rebuild trust, understanding, love, and intimacy in your relationship.

You feel stuck. At this point in your life, you thought you’d have relationships down - your marriage or partnership would feel meaningful, hard but fulfilling. Instead your interactions with your partner, and perhaps your family, friends, or coworkers. leave you feeling misunderstood, frustrated and alone. How the hell are other people able to “click”? This wasn’t how you envisioned how love would feel in your life.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families across a range of ages and stages in their lives. I enjoy getting to be a positive partner with those who are seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and supporting them in their journeys to bring intentionality, awareness, and insight into how we live each day. I believe the therapeutic experience is unique to each individual, and as such, should adapt to best fit the needs of each client. This evolutionary dynamic continues as each client grows and as their life outside of therapy changes as well.

"The focus of our work tends to be the PERSONAL CHANGE AND GROWTH OF EACH PERSON either to solve the marital problems or to dissolve the marriage as constructively as possible, with a minimum of hostility, and with attention to the well-being of each person in the family.
I have practiced psychotherapy since 1971, with a special interest in the emotional and relationship problems of adults and couples. I work with adults in acute distress as well as those with persisting difficulties that interfere with effective functioning and the full enjoyment of adult life. I ESPECIALLY WORK WITH COUPLES WHO ARE UNHAPPY IN THEIR MARRIAGE . In my view, emotionally committed relationships tend to be A HOTBED FOR REACTIVATION OF UNFINISHED BUSINESS from the past that can produce unexpected misery.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
