Following a recent hospitalization, Jamie Foxx will soon be getting back to work with production on an all-new television series. Fox has just announced (per Variety) that Foxx and his daughter, Corinne Foxx, will co-host the new music game show We Are Family. The show has been officially ordered to series by the network with the news coming days after Corinne revealed that Jamie has been at home for "weeks" for his continued recovery following a "medical complication" he suffered in April.

An official description of We Are Family reads, "Showcasing non-famous relatives of celebrities performing duets with their hidden famous family member, We Are Family will feature a studio audience entirely comprised of 100 contestants playing through multiple rounds of clues and gameplay to win up to $100,000 each by correctly guessing which celebrity the performer is related to before they are revealed. Celebrities appearing on We Are Family will range from musicians and professional athletes to actors and beyond.”

Foxx also hosts the Fox game show Beat Shazam, which features Corinne as the DJ. Because of Foxx's recent hospitalization, Nick Cannon has stepped up to fill in as host of that show for its next season, which is currently filming; Kelly Osborne is also serving as DJ for the time being. Foxx also executive produces the Fox series Alert: Missing Persons Unit. We Are Family will be co-produced by Apploff Entertainment and Fox Alternative Entertainment. Foxx is executive producing alongside Jeff Apploff and showrunner Matilda Zoltowski.

Jamie and Corinne Foxx Return to Fox

In a joint statement, Jamie and Corinne Foxx said of their new project, "We are thrilled to be developing We Are Family with Jeff Apploff and our friends at Fox Entertainment after so much success with six seasons of Beat Shazam. We hope this show brings as much fun to audiences at home as we’ve had creating it when it premieres next year.”

Fox Entertainment's president of unscripted programming, Allison Wallach, added, "Jamie and Corinne are important partners to the Fox Family. Their boundless energy and charming interplay with contestants are irresistible, which make them the perfect hosts of We Are Family. This series joins Fox’s fast-growing list of premium music-centric competition series."

It's not yet clear when filming may begin for We Are Family. Reportedly, the plan is for the show to launch sometime in 2024. The series becomes the latest music game show to arrive at Fox as well. Along with Foxx's Beat Shazam, other similiar shows on the network include The Masked Singer, Name That Tune, I Can See Your Voice, and Don't Forget the Lyrics.

Foxx can also be seen in the upcoming Netflix movie Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz, who came out of retirement to work with Foxx again. Filming was nearly completed when Foxx suffered his medical complication, so stand-in actors were used to wrap up the shoot while Foxx was hospitalized. That film doesn't yet have a release date.
