Rob Elliott

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Rob Elliott begins his sixth season as an assistant under Coach Scales. He also serves as a member of the U-14 Region I Olympic Development Program coaching staff and is the head coach of the T.C. United, a local U-15 boys[apos] team.

Elliott also served as the head coach for the Region I U-18 team, and took them to the Hoerden Tournament in Germany. The tournament included such prominent European soccer programs as Celtic, 1860 Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.

As a senior, Elliott was named to the 1996 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Umbro Division I Men[apos]s All-America second team. Elliott was the first Cornell player to be named a second-team All-American since Kurt Bettger was selected as a back in 1980.

A first-team All-New York State team member in 1995 and 1996, Elliott closed out his Cornell career with a school-record 18 assists, surpassing the mark of 16 set by Adamo Notarantonio (1992-95). A second-team All-Ivy selection in 1995 and 1996, Elliott was the Big Red[apos]s third-leading scorer as a senior, tallying five goals and six assists for 16 points. He played in the Umbro Select College All-Star game following his senior campaign.

A 1997 Cornell graduate with a bachelor of science degree in natural resources, Elliott had his most productive season in 1995, when he scored 26 points on eight goals, including four game winners, and 10 assists. His 10 assists were one shy of the school record set by Chris Agoliati in 1972. Elliott concluded his Cornell career with 44 points on 13 goals and 18 assists.

A native of Middletown, N.J., Elliott played with the North Jersey Imperials of the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues. The Imperials are an affiliate of the New York/New Jersey MetroStars of Major League Soccer. Elliott also trained with the MetroStars in January 1998.

The Big Red appeared in the NCAA Division I Men[apos]s Soccer Championship Tournament in each of Elliott[apos]s final two seasons. The team posted a 12-4-2 record in 1996, after finishing the 1995 campaign with a 15-2-1 mark and the Ivy League championship. Over Elliott[apos]s last two seasons, the Big Red recorded a 27-6-3 slate--the best two-year span in Cornell men[apos]s soccer history.
