The area
Address
Neighborhood: Frederiksberg
Located between Noerrebro and Vesterbro you’ll find Frederiksberg, which is actually a municipality in itself but completely surrounded by Copenhagen. Here there are several fine theaters, from the experimental to the great Det Ny Teater (The New Theater) which specializes in transcribing the great London and New York musicals into Danish, and has done so for several years with huge success. In Frederiksberg you’ll find Denmark’s most beautiful (and expensive) city villas. These 4-5 square miles form the Beverly Hills of Copenhagen. Here you’ll also find Frederiksberg Have (Garden) which sports huge outdoor concerts, from classical to electronic dance music. To top it off, dining options range from cozy family restaurants to some of the area’s most trendy cafés.

    Amazing zoo experience
Of the three zoos I visited, this was by far the best. Especially excellent is the polar area. Gorillas area and Otter areas also very fun places. Animals look happy, environment looks excellent, plenty of shops and cafes. Can also go to the petting zoo area, and touch the animals. Gift shop is tidy and very well stocked. Could easily spend many hours taking photos of the animals.

    Pandas vs Space
I went to see the Pandas & I wasn’t disappointed- they both were on view and looked healthy. Bucket list ticked . We tried to enjoy the rest of the zoo despite the odd rain storm. However we both felt some animals Didn’t have the space they required to live happily in captivity. The Polar bear was pacing , the lions and tigers seemed to have no space to explore; the same for the brown bears. Plenty of clean toilets and cafes plus places to sit down. A mixed morning of delights and sadness

    Good day out
Pleasantly surprised by this attraction, all staff very friendly and well laid out. Lots of animals to see and a lot bigger in size than expected. Yes, some pens appear small but this applies to most zoos Young kids will love it as lots to see and do, kids animal farm especially good where they can interact with animals

Well kept tidy Zoo with Pandas and Leopards.
Easy to get to on the bus and included in the Copenhagen card as well (so is the bus!). Never seen a Leopard or Panda before but all the animals are well looked after. Even our 18 year old son was engaged!

One of my favorite zoos. Lots of jungle animals and nature. Buses 4A, 7A and 72 stop at that zoo. I also liked the rabbit playground, arctic ring and black tower.

    Great zoo
This zoo is unbelievably good, by far the best zoo we’ve visited. The range of animals is great, covering all the big animals you could hope to see. The Lions, , Hippo, and Polar Bears were our favourites. We really liked the fact that the animals seemed happy and had plenty of space. The method of viewing the animals is fantastic, you are not viewing them through bars and netting. The Savannah are gives you an unobstructed view of Zebra, Rhino and Giraffe in a large area together.

    Amazing visit
OMG, what an amazing zoo, we try to visit a zoo everywhere we go. This zoo by far is the best one I've been to. Loved seeing the baby animals as well as the others. The polar bears were so beautiful, and the hippos just so huge . Then seeing the panda was the icing on the cake.

    Such an amazing zoo!
Our lodging was close by the Copenhagen Train station at Vesterbrogade which was a convenient 40 minute walk from there. We could have taken public transportation but to locate the connections and wait for the bus, our walk worked and before we knew it, we had already arrived at the Copenhagen Zoo entrance! We purchased a Copenhagen Card which was very convenient as we did not have to line up to purchase our entry tickets. The Copenhagen Zoo is set up in such a wonderful organized manner and the animals are all in displays that offer the visitor a nice view. Upon entry, while passing the lions, we had to stop for the family of lions including the cubs posing for us. Initially we thought it was just statues as they were not moving but we realized they were actually real!! Such an unbelievable sight that I have never encountered in a zoo!! Copenhagen Zoo builds the animal habitats with such precision that the surroundings are easy for the visitor to view the animals. The Giant Pandas were on display- one visible from the Bistro Pan Pan and the other one was visible in the outside munching on bamboo. Such a show!! The baboons and lemurs were also fun to view as they were climbing, running back and forth in their indoor and outdoor enclosures. The gift shops were nice also as there were some unique items found. It was quite an enjoyable visit at the Copenhagen Zoo. We definitely recommend a stop here to enjoy front row sightings of many types of wildlife.

    Good Museum
This was a speedy visit as I arrived with only 75 minutes before closing time so I really had to do a speed run of the museum. Never the less, I thought it was a terrific zoo. Lots of variety regarding animals, and the polar bears were a huge surprise. Loved seeing them. The elephants were a highlight too. Terrific museum. Wish I had more time.

We came particularly to see the latest addition - the pandas.
They have a new space made up of real bamboo as well as concrete and steel themed bamboo. It looks lovely and provides for a good viewing experience.
We enjoy visiting the zoo as the animals seem to be very healthy!
It was surprisingly crowded for a COVID-19 summer, but they had plenty hand sanitizers everywhere as well as one-way policy limiting cross traffic of crowds.
We loved the new panda shop, but had to give up on the main shop due to king lines.

We found it difficult to find once you get off the metro (I know this is not the zoo's fault but a sign or two would be great). We went straight in as we had the Copenhagen card, borrowed a free cart to put all our stuff and off we went. The zoo has loads of animals and it's easy to find your way around. The boys loved the pandas and lions and rhinos. All the animals looked very clean and well looked after. The boys also loved the machines where you have to grab a toy, they are good value at DKK20 and the kids can play until they win one. The play areas are also great - spacious and clean. We also loved the farm area, you can get right in with the goats - the goats can also go through a tunnel to get away which is good. Hand sanitiser and posters reminding you to stay apart which was easy. You can easily spend the entire day here so it's good value - we found drinks were very expensive so would take these with us next time.

We found the zoo by accident when on the bus heading to somewhere else. As we love zoos, we decided to go in. So glad we did!

There is a tower as you enter which you have to pay extra for (we felt that this was a little unreasonable so didn’t bother).

There are many animals here and many eating places- literally everywhere! We didn’t eat at any.

We felt some enclosures were a little small such as the lions, sea lions and leopard as the small wombats had more room. People smoked around the zoo and again we felt that this was not appropriate. There are signs asking for quiet in certain areas and to not tap the glass but these were ignored by the majority of the visitors as not staffed. This was a shame, we felt.

However, the pandas and polar bears were the talking point! Just wow! We got to get really close to the polar bears which was wonderful.

They also have an African area which was great.

Still absolutely well-worth a trip but hopefully the zoo will take on board the comments.

The polar bear glass walk through is an incredible experience. I could have stayed there all day watching the polar bears dive into the water and swim around the pool.

If you don't have the budget to fully visit you can see the africa enclosure and elephants from the park.

I'm afraid the childhood excitement of the mystery of a zoo is long gone. Once you have seen wildlife "in the wild", a lion or tiger enclosure is a very depressing place. This is an old and well-established zoo and therefore some of the facilities are unduly cramped and poorly fitted out. There are, of course, some "stars" like the panda and polar bears, however, for all the joy of the 3 polar bears frollicking in the water, there's also the large adult restlessly circling the tatty enclosure. A significant area is given over to commercial and hospitality outlets which detracts from the layout. It's a "good" zoo but is any zoo "good" these days?

It’s worrying that a lot of visitors have no issue being so intrusive towards the animals and even more worrying that this is doable due to the zoo itself. A poor red panda terrified because a visitor had held his camera right up to his face. Animals have absolutely no space, especially the Jaguars and lions. Full of depressing sights and no animal deserves to live like this, the chimpanzees absolutely broke my heart. In addition to the past killings of healthy animals, no worry about preservation just entitlement to animals as entertainment.

On arrival we was not informed that the the whole experience would be in Danish. When the zoo keeper arrived she informed us that she would not be doing the experince in English as would take too long, she was very blunt and kept looking at in dismay at the fact we agreed to continue with the tour anyway given that we had already paid for the experince before even coming to Copenhagen.
The pandas are amazing- the keeper did then speak some English so that we had some idea about the panda they have there.
Overall the pandas did win-

We visited here for my partners birthday as we just love animals! The zoo is pretty big with so many animals - some of which I've never seen in person before like pandas and polar bears! There was lots of information boards about the animals written in both Danish and English. This was very helpful and inclusive. All talks however, are in Danish. The zoo even has a range of farm animals too. You are able (if you wish) to muck out the animals with the staff. I was able to pet cows in the petting zoo and was also able to pet a reindeer too! This was lovely.
You can tell that the zoo is very well maintained and all of the animals are really loved. The negative reviews on this zoo do not reflect in my trip! Such a wonderful zoo and all of the animals seemed happy.

The zoo had some interesting areas... the polar bears, the pandas. I did not see signs of animal stress but I also thought that some of the enclosures were not quite as big as I've seen elsewhere. The place does need some maintenance. In some areas, notably the polar bear house, a lot of the interactive exhibits were out of order.

My husband and I visited because it was one of the more expensive attractions on the Copenhagen card, we were staying in Frederiksberg and, frankly, we wanted to see the Panda House where a small piece of an episode of Borgen was filmed!

It was an enjoyable enough way to spend a couple of hours, even without kids.
