Rangers predicted XI v Hibs: Cyriel Dessers and Scott Wright axed

Cyriel Dessers and Scott Wright axed – Predicted Rangers XI v Hibernian

Philippe Clement looks set to make changes to his Rangers starting lineup for their SPFL clash with Hibernian on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears crashed out of the Europa League with a 1-0 defeat to Benfica, before a trip to Dens Park to face off against Dundee was postponed 90 minutes before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch.

That saw the team lose their place at the top of the SPFL, but they now look to get back to winning ways after a lengthy international break where some injury issues flared up once again.

Borna Barisic to get a final chance to save his Rangers career?

Most people were expecting Jack Butland to be on international duty during this several week break, but he ended up sticking around in Glasgow after being snubbed and he will return in goal for this game.

In defence James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are well rested once again and should continue on the right side of defence, while John Souttar will be hopeful of keeping his place after a tough international outing with Scotland.

But at left-back Ridvan Yilmaz seems likely to miss out after suffering a muscle injury with Turkey, which could provide a chance for exit-linked Borna Barisic to come back into the team and stake his claim for a regular starting spot between now and the end of the campaign.

In midfield John Lundstram will surely get the nod in his holding role, while Clement will be hopeful that Mohammed Diomande is ready to go after rejecting an international call-up from Ghana.

Tom Lawrence has impressed since returning from injury and should get the nod in the number ten role, with so many injuries in attack for the manager to navigate.

Cyriel Dessers should be dropped by Rangers

Ross McCausland failed to recover from injury during the international break and is likely to join all of Abdallah Sima, Kieran Dowell, Oscar Cortes and Danilo on the sidelines for this game, which should see Todd Cantwell return to the starting lineup in place of the under-performing Scott Wright.

The manager has gone with Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers together during recent games to deal with those injuries, with the Portuguese loanee drifting in from the left.

But with Rabbi Matondo fit and available again he should get the nod in his preferred position out wide, which would allow Silva to move up front and Clement to finally axe £4.5m signing Dessers after some poor performances this season.
