Man, I wish I'd been there. Connie puts on her seductive, glamorous style which is totally suitable for a club-performance and owns the crowd. The sound-quality of this recording is OK, even if the constant audience-noises are a bit distracting in the long run. Her performance is striking, as is her band. Still a record mainly for devotees as the material here (as decent as it is) may not be overly appealing to anyone not already taken by Connie. I rate the historical value of Connie Francis at the Copa higher than the plain pleasure of actually listening to it.
Worth to be checked out, but not exactly recommended if one is only slightly familiar with her discography.

This is the best Connie Francis album. Connie leaves the whining behind on this one and belts out great supper club songs that make her the toast of the town in NYC and Las Vegas during those supper club days. Whether it is the gospel flavored "When the Saints Go Marching in, Jolson melodies, or Italian and Jewish favorites, Connie knew what she was doing and wows the audience. I just wish that Connie had embraced more stylings like this and did not try to be everybody's singer. I just wish that mgm would release this one on CD.
