Walking onto the UConn Waterbury campus felt like joining a close-knit group of friends. Surrounded by greenery, it had this chill vibe perfect for studying. The students there were real characters, from all walks of life, making classes lively and fun. Professors weren't just lecturers; they were like mentors, always ready to chat or help out. In between classes, you could hang out in the library or catch some sun in the quad. It wasn't just a campus; it was a home away from home, where you could be yourself and grow alongside some awesome people.
During my time at UConn, I was able to make a lot of connections and meet a lot of new people from varying backgrounds. While some of the classes were informational, a lot of the professors seem to be very particular regarding certain topics. For example, If I wrote an essay for a class one instructor may give it a D whereas the same essay would receive ab in another class. While this is generally the norm for most schools, it can be frustrating at times. That said, the support given to me by my peers was phenomenal and allowed me to keep going.
During my time at the university, I was able to make a lot of connections with peers both old and new. I also was able to cultivate new lessons for learning. However, during my time there I struggled a lot with mental health and finances. This caused me to take a leave of absence in 2017. I am now ready to go back to school and reignite my passion for learning.
