RONNIE DOVE TENIA UNA VOZ PRECIOSA AUNQUE SU ESTILO FUERA MAS BIEN CROONER O BALADISTA TUVO MUCHOS TEMAS DE EXITO EN LISTAS, ESTA ANTOLOGIA LOS RECUPERA TODOS PARA DEGUSTADORES DE LA EPOCA MUY BUEN SONIDO.... INOLVIDABLE
I have been listening to this disc for a while now and I must say it sounds darn good. I do not own any previous Ronnie Dove CD releases. Prior to getting this CD I really only was familiar with "One Kiss For All Time Sake" which I had on a Time Life disc from two decades ago. I was born in 1961, so these tracks are all new to me with that one exception. It seems to me that "oldies" radio (at least where I have lived for the past forty years) seldom if ever played Ronnie's hits for the past three decades.
Now I understand why this singer's devoted fans rave about him so much. The high notes that Ronnie hits at the end of "Say You" and "Right Or Wrong" are amazing. My favorite tracks are "Hello Pretty Girl," "My Babe" and "I Want To Love You For What You Are." I also enjoyed Ronnie's versions of "Cry" "I Really Don't Want To Know" and "Mountain Of Love." I could not tell which tracks are from tape and which are from vinyl since all 21 sound so good. The only five tracks that are mono (the other 16 are stereo) are tracks 2, 4, 16, 17 and 19.
The booklet is very informative, filled with pictures (including one of Ronnie shaking Ed's hand on the Sullivan show), great details on Ronnie meeting Elvis Presley and Bobby Darin, as well as detailed track information (I learned that "My Babe" was written and produced by Neil Diamond). This release fills a gap in my personal music collection (plus IMO no history of `60s music is complete without this disc). Overall this is the release of the summer (yes very "Happy Summer Days") thanks to Real Gone Music and the stellar team that assembled this CD.
