this is a soul album done right, beautiful soulful vocals, old louisiana type jazz, bluesy and lyrically dense. an amazing listen!

I was excited to listen to this because I LOVE Try a Little Tenderness and so I thought I would love this album. It turned out to be just okay, not mindblowing but good for sure. I think that he has created a real basis for the "soul" sound that has been built on by others really well. The Day Tripper cover was super cool, very transformative in a way I almost wouldn't have recognized it as the same song.
