AP Review Sessions 2024 |
For those unfamiliar with GROK night at the Jr./Sr. High, it truly is a very intimate gathering where students share their writing and artistic talents published in their very own GROK Magazine book. This incredible student literary and art magazine has received recognition for its excellence in writing and art from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) through their REALM program, and rightfully so!
Congratulations to students, Ryan Smith (Junior), Buster Coden (Senior), Desmond Mehta (Senior) and Milan Lustig (Junior), who were invited to travel to Wash D.C. for the #HouseOfCode Science Fair which is considered "The most prestigious demo day in STEM" and "The new National Science Fair."
Thank you to our community for coming out for the student art exhibition reception at the CSH Library on April 9. What a wonderful turnout! The students were incredibly proud to share their work, and the stories behind the projects! Thank you to all the K-6 art teachers for coming out to support their students and for their constant guidance and encouragement.
Third and fourth graders in Julia Glass’ Science classes, recently created solar eclipse viewers after learning how and why eclipses occur in anticipation of the 2024 solar eclipse. Students constructed pinhole projectors and then used them to practice safely viewing this phenomenon, along with the sun, daytime sky and any future eclipses.
In celebration of World Language month, the fourth-grade FLES students created beautiful posters! Each year, the AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) selects a theme which students show in their posters. This year's theme was “El español y el portugués como lenguas globales: conexiones y oportunidades más allá del aula.”
K-12 Music Chair Brent Chiarello was thrilled to announce some very exciting news. “For the 3rd year running, Cold Spring Harbor has received national recognition by the NAMM foundation with a “Best Communities for Music Education” designation! I’m so proud of the work that our teachers do each day, and this recognition is a testament to their dedication. Thank you for all you do to support our students and the music program!”
West Side 4th Graders treated their parents and guests to a culminating musical performance celebrating Colonial Day times. Under the direction of music teacher, Leah Martin, students sang, danced and played instruments, as well as regaled us with all kinds of Colonial Day knowledge.
