A diverse suburb of Mumbai that is great to explore
Wednesday 1st March and we took the train from Santa Cruz to Churchgate in the heart of Mumbai. From the Station we walked to Colaba, which is situated at the southern tip of the City. We walked along enjoying the sights and the atmosphere of the City. It took us about an hour as we stopped so many times to have a look at something of interest. Colabo combines all elements and aspects of life from top hotels, historic monuments, art galleries to a bustling street market. It is a diverse neighborhood across the spectrum of life from the affluent to the Bohemian and street life. There are a number of famous landmarks and points of interest here, including the Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel, Leopolds Cafe and Colaba Causeway. From the port area, by the Gateway to India, lots of small boats provide a ferry service to the wonderful Elephanta Island.

    An Awesome Night in Mumbai
I had recent been to Monsoon Midnight cycling or Midnight Cycling Tour with Mischief Treks. This event was a totally awesome experience, its a good way to explore MUMBAI and it's major attractions in a different way. I would like to share the details about the event it starts at 11pm on saturday from Colaba and ends the other day at 4 in the Morning. People who would like to join in for the event can do so by booking it from their Website. Now coming to my experience, we were a bunch of girls who went to the event as we wanted to see the nightlife of mumbai. Earlier our parents were skeptical to let us go out at night but they did allow us and let me tell you guys the event leader made us feel safe throughout the event. We had common names, such a coincidence haha. Jahnvi did exceptionally good on her role, her passion for her work and dedication is really commendable. She and Nitesh from Mischief Treks team managed the entire event well. The event leds were friendly, calm, approachable and helped us to gel up with everyone easily , this made the entire event experience way better. The timing was perfect, event started according to the itinerary and ended on the perfect time. We got to hear alot of stories from the leads. They were really careful about the safety and security of each individual and gave us a safety and instruction briefing before we started the tour. Once everyone reached we got our Cycles. The cycles too were in extremely good conditions. We started from Colaba around 11:30 and covered places mentioned in their itinerary, like Nariman point, Marine Lines, Girgaon Chowpatty, Hanging Garden, CSMT, Flora Fountain, Asiatic Library, Gateway of India and Taj Hotel. The locations mentioned were covered within time paying proper attention to good amount of break for people to rest. We had some amazing bunch of people with us. We got to know different like minded people on the event, made few new friends, learnt about people and their experiences from different walks of life. They were also particular about small batch size for safety reasons, I loved this idea and many times organisers end up taking 50-100 people on an event and small batch size is a major contributor for good experience. I'll sum up this review by saying that if you are someone who wishes to experience night life of mumbai whether you are new to mumbai, traveling here for work, or stay in mumbai since long this event is something which you should definitely try. It's worth the time and money invested. Kudos to the Mischief Trek Team for arranging such events. I got to know on the tour that they specialise into treks, camping and tours too and after my NIght cycling experience with them I'm surely looking forward to doing many more events with them. Hoping you find this review helpful, anyone reading this have a nice day!!

    Stunning architecture.
The architecture of the buildings is quite something. Like stepping back in time to another era or being in Europe. Less chaotic than a lot of other areas in Mumbai. Suggest taking a guide with like I did to fully appreciate what you are looking at. There were so many things I would have missed had the guide not been with me. Go early and wear good shoes.

The cliche of old-world charm applies to Mumbai's Colaba neighborhood. ... One of Mumbai's top attractions and the city's most famous monument, the iconic Gateway of India is a popular place to start exploring Colaba. ... Wander Through the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel

Colaba is situated at the Southern part of Mumbai, a diverse neighborhood, filled with busy markets, historic monuments, interesting art galleries and educational institute. The famous Gateway of India and Taj Mahal Hotel are located here. The place houses several cafes including Cafe Royal and Leopold Cafe, numerous restaurants from high end to street food, to name a few, Bademiya and Bagdadi restaurants are two known economy eateries, as well as number of modern pubs and clubs. The southern tip is occupied by a military cantonment, including the large Navy Nagar built on reclaimed land. In the midst of Navy Nagar lies the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), one of India's leading scientific institutions. Colaba is also famous for high-end shopping and boutiques to street shopping, including Colaba Causeway. Colaba also houses major art galleries and museums in and around this area and Ragal Cinema, Mani Bhavan etc. To summarize, Colaba is a busy neighborhood offering everything.

Colaba is on the southern peninsula of Mumbai. Its most famous area is the waterfront where the amazing Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal Hotel are to be found both reviewed separately). This was one of my favourite parts of Mumbai. Even though it's always busy and crowded, it's picturesque, with a fisherman's quarter and, inland, some lovely art deco and colonial-style mansions. The place has a great buzz to it, with bars and streetfood, vendors of all kinds, and that sense of 'can-do' which pervades all of Mumbai.

Very beautiful area of southern Mumbai. Lots of Victorian architecture buildings. I was especially impressed by the High Court and train station buildings. Many of the attractions are within a five to 30 minute walk or ten minute taxi ride of the Gateway to India and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

This is a large area located in the Southern part of Mumbai consisting of the Gateway of India, the Taj Hotel, waterfront, Sasoon Dock, shops, eateries, museums, and various historic buildings. There is a lot to see and do here.

The waterfront has a fish market that is interesting to visit. Many boats are in the area of all shapes and sizes, also interesting to see. We checked out some of the shops but didn’t try any of the street food or eat in any of the restaurants. Conditions seemed iffy to me at many of them.

Walking along the streets, there are many old buildings and mansions. Some are beautiful and seem to have been restored, while others are dilapidated and crumbling. Still, it is an area worth seeing and enjoying while in Mumbai.

This place has so much to offer. Amazing food options, I loved a small time restaurant called Baghdadi. Then there are so many nice cafés with good European dining options. Amazing architecture all around. Walk around in the neighborhood in the evening. Friendly people everywhere.

Nice area to walk around. Clean. Lots of places to check out. Great places for pictures. I learned lots about the attack on the Taj Hotel. I do have to check out the movie to understand the story and the sacrifice the staff provided to look after their guests
