Above all else, I would describe my time at Clear Creek Amana High School as wonderful. I used to think that the classes were not helpful or that all of the "preparing" they had us do for college was useless. But, looking back, the teachers and staff there care extremely about all of the students and after making it through my first semester of college with a 4.00 GPA, I am incredibly grateful for all of the classes and assignments they had us do in order to get ready. I rest nearly all of my success so far in college on the teachings of many of my high school leaders. While the school had its ups and downs, just like any other school, I would still highly recommend it to any young teenager simply for how well they prepared me for college life. If there was one thing that I could change about the school, it would probably be changing the grading system to having a weighted GPA just to reflect what college life would be like even more. Other than that, I had an awesome time at CCA.
My experience going to Clear Creek Amana was overall very good. I never seemed to have any problems. I felt safe, important, and seen. I think the best thing about this school district is how respectful the staff is and how seriously they take situations. In any scenario when something was not right, it was taken care of very quickly and well, making sure it would not happen again. One of the worst parts though was feeling as though I did not get the experiences that I would have liked to have gotten with the FINE Arts. I was involved in marching band, but due to a lack of funding we weren't able to attend many marching competitions which I feel as it took away from major experiences for me.
Clear Creek Amana High School isn't exactly bad but it's not exactly good. They only have four APs and sometimes six (APUSH and AP Gov) if enough people sign up for it and there almost never is which saddens me. So there isn't really a chance, at least in my opinion to excel.
