Reyna on the bench for Dortmund v Leverkusen
Doing my patriotic duty by making fun of Gio so he keeps scoring goals. My man looks like Hanna Barbera era Solomon Grundy
He looks like a botoxed Benicio del Toro
🤣🤣🤣
No, Gio looks like Arnie from What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I hate to think of this comparison every time I see him, but I can’t shake it. It’s the smile
Lmao
More material than you could ever use here.
Gio an unused sub today😬 Unfortunate
Quick somebody blame GGG
Maybe his mom will get Terzic fired.
Quick someone use this to rationalize Gregg's poor decisions! Oh wait...
Up 2-0 and cruising to victory?
They didn’t need a last minute goal to win, I guess
Looks like he’s not coming in since Dortmund has a lead.
Are you meaning to tell me that bringing Gio on to close out a lead is a not good idea??
I wish Terzic knew that putting in a defensive player like Hummels to close out the game is a bad idea. He should have put on Gio to hold onto the ball.
Terrible terrible decision by the professional soccer manager who does not know more than us redditors.
If Gio keeps working hard he can have a chance of taking a starter spot like before his injuries, players can go from starters to bench or from bench to starters
We know lol
Why would GGG do this??
Fine with him continuing to come off the bench, get them Grammies 100%.
Gio gonna crush Mexico in Nation’s league in June

Apparently back to back game winners isn’t enough to get him in the starting XI.
Not physically 100% yet
MLS Agenda knows no borders.
Apparently they like him as a super sub
He didn’t play that well in the last match. Yes he scored a tap in on a set piece but he’s not 100% fit still. Give him some more time and he’ll be there. Ik sure he’ll get minutes today
Welcome to bias central. Like...what people are asking the coach to do is take something that's working (bringing Gio on as a sub) and change that. Their goal is to get wins, they are getting them. Terzic cant be bothered I'm sure.
Although bench players can become starters later on if they keep showing their skills, it has happened in the past
Bringing on Gio as a aub is what startedbthis whole mess.
Also not a Terzic problem
Super saiyan sub time
Claudio is no longer bound by mortal limits like “being employed” or “having a good reputation” so Terzic has gotta be careful
By resigning from the position, Claudio has more free time to send emails to BVB leadership after he digs up dirt on the coach!
Claudio is still employed by Austin FC but don't let facts get in the way of your cringey fan behavior.
How ironic lmao. It’s a joke dude.
I hope he sees this bro
Edit: I just looked through this guys comments. You cant convince me he isn’t a PR guy for the Reyna family.
You’d be surprised what idiots will do for free. But for real I’m so tired of all the comments after Gio scores saying he’s silencing his critics, as if his on field play was what people were critical of.
Scores two game winners in a row and gets rewarded by not playing this game at all
He’s not healthy
Man it almost sounds like a...limited...role
While I appreciate point you're making, it's clearly apples and oranges comparison. This is like saying that Pulisic having a limited role at Chelsea would justify a limited role in the national team...which would clearly be madness. Sure, Reyna is no Pulisic, but they are both top talents for the team.
This comment would make sense if he was 100% healthy, but he's not. We're talking about managing him due to injury. Terzic just said 2 days ago that he's not 100%. That's the limited role part. The US wasn't not playing him just for the hell of it lol.
Pulisic was "injured" during the NED game. There was never any question he was going to start, though. Even if he wasn't "100%". As others have pointed out--professional footballers are almost *never* 100%. lol
Players who have limited roles can become starters later on if they show their skills to the manager. Doesn't mean their role will be limited forever
No one is saying it's a forever thing...
Who said it was permanent lol
This is completely true but odd to add to this discussion as that’s not what’s happening here, he’s simply not fully healthy yet.
People keep saying this, but what is his injury exactly? He had the muscle strain before the WC, but that should be fully healed by now.
Exploded butthole
So, when Gregg tells Gio he has a limited role at the World Cup, Gio gets an attitude and his parents blackmail Gregg while the redditors go crazy over it. But, when Terzic at Dortmund does the exact same thing, Gio has no attitude whatsoever, his parents are quiet, and no one on reddit are taking out the pitchforks (I think I read that Terzic said that Gio is still getting over an injury).
I'm not trying to be snarky, I would honestly just like to ask why there was such an issue with Gregg and not an issue with Dortmund over Gio's role in those teams?
Because this sub hates Gregg so they fall for every narrative that makes him look bad. From “limited role” to Gregg’s “system” that he abandoned before WC qualifying even started.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding your question, but a player can be the best player on his national team and the worst player on his club team. This situation isn’t as extreme as that, of course, but it’s completely within reason for someone to think Gio is worthy of starting for the USMNT, and worthy of being a super-sub at BVB.
Exactly--there are alternatives at BVB to an 90% Gio. There are no alternatives to a 90% Gio on the USMNT.
I disagree. We have Tim Weah and Brendon Aaronson.
Aaronson is a chaos monkey. Not comparable to Reyna at all.
I mean, that's true in general, but I'm not so sure that's the case with Gio and the USMNT especially with him not being fully fit.
You think the US midfield has more depth than Dortmund? CAM is probably our weakest role, and winger is marginally better. McKinnie, Weah, Puli, Reyna. Name a middie that deserves to start over any of these four. Your only choices are Aaronson, LDLT, and Roldan, and two of them didn’t even see the field in the World Cup and the one that did has 2 goals in 15 caps.
Honestly, I feel like you have to either be lying to yourself or not have looked at the WC roster to not understand how different Gio’s value is for Dortmund vs the States.
I feel like you didn't read my comment. I straight up said Reyna is better than Aaronson but he was INJURED. If he was injured I cant imagine how 30 minutes off the bench is such a bad thing. Obviously depth is limited but it's not like we had no one. I mean, weah and Aaronson both did really well in his absence
Edit: Sorry, I thought I was responding to the other person I was commenting with. In my other comment, I already acknowledged that Gio is better than Aaronson, but Gio has been injured.
they are two different situations and some people in this very thread are mad he's not starting anyway
They really aren’t that different lol

If Reyna's not at 100% the BVB alternative is, say, Julian Brandt: a guy who's played for the German national team at winger and attacking mid. I'm not sure if it really needs saying, but when Reyna's on the bench, the alternative is *not* a guy who's a plausible member of the German WC squad.

You, like many others who are very bad at this, continue to conveniently forget that all reports are that Gio's own teammates were quite unhappy with him while the issue was happening. Was pulled aside by teammates multiple times, and they were reportedly annoyed he was even given a cameo vs England.

Danielle called the USSF after GGG spoke at the convention, not during the World Cup. It was retaliation, not blackmail. both are shitty, but there is a difference.
The stakes are objectively higher for the World Cup because it’s 3-7 games that come once every four years. People get way more emotional about it because who knows where anyone will be four years from now? Not saying they were right, because they weren’t, but I can see why the level of drama is different here. Gio isn’t starting now, but in a few months maybe he will. If he doesn’t start at the World Cup that’s it for another half a decade.
Oooooooo Danielle about to text their boss
Legendary joke. You’re very smart and not incredibly lame
Not starting?! He should tell his mommy
Hur durr so original and hilarious
BVB's sporting director better be on the look out for a strongly-worded letter form claudio and danielle. this is a travesty that must not stand.
This joke has run its course 10x over
How many times have you made this joke?
I, for one, appreciated this joke. I will always enjoy this joke whenever he doesn’t play. Long may it live!
Dortmund’s manger really trying to get fired

He’s 20, relax
They literally said this week he still wasn't 100%. Why does the gio defense team not retain any information and automatically assume worst, least logical outcome every single time lol
I CANT BELIEVE GREGG USED GIO AS A SUB.
Reyna does well “he needs to start every game!”
Reyna doesnt get into match “see this is why Jordan Morris is better…”
Eurosnobs and Minor League Shitter fans are crazy
