School-College Partnerships

The City University of New York’s commitment to the education of all New Yorkers begins long before the start of freshman year. Through its School-College Partnerships, CUNY invests substantial human and financial resources in the service of public school students and out-of-school youth. The Office of Academic Affairs manages these efforts in collaboration with the New York City Department of Education and other organizations.

Health and Human Services Programs

Quality health care depends on the availability of an educated, well-trained workforce. CUNY continually prepares a large, culturally diverse pool of qualified health and human services personnel in areas such as nursing, social work, nutrition, speech pathology, and mental health counseling.

Study Abroad Programs

Study Abroad programs may be semester-long, year-long, or short-term (during the summer or winter intersession). These programs consist of courses aimed towards a particular course of study.

Online Programs

Some CUNY schools now offer fully accredited online degree and certificate programs for students who want the experience, flexibility, and convenience of online education. Among them are John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the School of Professional Studies.

Teacher Education Programs

CUNY enrolls more than 18,000 students in education programs: one-third of these students study at the undergraduate level and two-thirds are graduate students. With a commitment to teaching and learning, our campuses prepare a culturally diverse pool of students to be effective educators in a variety of settings. The Teacher Education portfolio within Academic Affairs also includes grant-funded programs, research initiatives and policy issues.

Opportunity Programs

CUNY’s SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) and CD (College Discovery) are the two City University higher education opportunity programs designed to assist high-potential, low-income students who otherwise might not be able to pursue a college degree.
