Citizen Soldier

Citizen Soldier is a Salt Lake City-based music group. It was born in 2016 when frontman, Jake Segura, penned the lyrics to “Let It Burn” from a psychiatric hospital. “Let It Burn” would debut as their first single in 2017 – and the group’s music has been embraced by those battling mental illness, abuse, stigmatization, and ostracization ever since. This aligns perfectly with Citizen Soldier, who have been all about honouring those who fight daily battles that others dismiss or judge. As their music has spread and gained audiences, many survivors of illness and abuse have embraced the songs as representations of their struggles and found refuge within the community, where they can safely share their experiences and pain.
