Founded in 1608, Quebec City has a lot of history to offer. So, what do you see if you have limited time? Here’s what to add to your itinerary.
Place Royale
The primary historic center of Quebec City, Place Royale is a small neighborhood filled with stone streets, shops, restaurants and charm. It’s also home to Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church, one of the oldest stone churches in North America.
Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec
Considered the oldest church in Canada, Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec was built on the site of a church originally built by Samuel de Champlain in the early 1600s. It also notably features one of only eight Roman Catholic holy doors in the world, and numerous historical figures are buried in the church’s crypt.
The largest British fortress in North America, this is still an active military site. As such, you’ll have to take a guided tour in order to see inside, but the views and experience are worth it.
Chateau Frontenac
Known as the most photographed hotel in the world and built in the late 1800s, Chateau Frotenac now operates as a Fairmont property.

Mar 29, 2024Study Finds Travel is Costliest Hobby — And It Might Not Be Worth It
Solitaire Bliss, an online gaming site, recently conducted a survey asking Americans about their hobbies, including how much money they spend on their hobbies, as well as how happy their hobbies make them. It’s no surprise travel came out as one of the costlier hobbies in the survey; however, it is surprising that not only did travel come out as the costliest hobby overall, but it also might not be worth the cost in terms of how much happiness it brings to those who claim it as one of their top hobbies.
