Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fans want Cirroc Lofton to play Jake Sisko again, but Lofton hilariously points out that his Star Trek comeback has been happening for years thanks to The 7th Rule podcast. Cirroc played Jake Sisko, the son of Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks), for all 7 seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. As his fellow DS9 cast mates like Nana Visitor, who played Colonel Kira Nerys, and Armin Shimerman, who played Quark, reprised their roles on Star Trek: Lower Decks, Lofton remains at the top of DS9 fans' lists to come back as Jake Sisko.

Cirroc Lofton joined co-hosts Ryan T. Husk and Malissa Longo for an exclusive interview with Screen Rant to celebrate 5 years of The 7th Rule podcast. Producer Husk pointed out that The 7th Rule has produced over 400 episodes of their podcast since 2019, reviewing all of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and now, episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation with Denise Crosby and Star Trek: The Original Series with Walter Koenig. Regarding his oft-discussed comeback as Jake Sisko, Cirroc was amused to realize that he has now recorded far more episodes of his Star Trek podcast in the last 5 years than he played Jake in all 7 years of DS9. Read his quote below:

This is basically… This is me on Star Trek. (laughs) This is more than Star Trek! I’m 400 episodes in.

Cirroc Lofton was a main cast member of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but he only appeared in 71 episodes as Jake Sisko, in part because he was a minor throughout much of the series.

Cirroc Lofton Is Building A New Star Trek Legacy On The 7th Rule Podcast

Lofton remains open to play Jake Sisko again

While Cirroc Lofton will always be synonymous with Jake Sisko on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, he and The 7th Rule podcast are building a remarkable Star Trek legacy in their own right. One of the first podcasts featuring Star Trek actors reviewing their old episodes, The 7th Rule was founded by the late Aron Eisenberg, who played Lieutenant Nog on DS9, along with Cirroc Lofton and Ryan T. Husk. After Eisenberg sadly passed away in 2019, his widow, Malissa Longo, joined Lofton and Husk in continuing and expanding The 7th Rule. One of The 7th Rule's finest accomplishments is building a loyal community of Star Trek fans whom Lofton, Husk, Longo, and their team have gotten to know personally, and who have become valued associate producers and contributors.

On The 7th Rule, Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas shared an idea to bring in Cirroc Lofton as Jake Sisko that wasn't able to happen.

Of course, Cirroc Lofton is open to reprising Jake Sisko either in live-action Star Trek or in animation on Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Prodigy. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fans continually imagine scenarios where Federation News reporter Jake Sisko can appear, and Lofton thinks a scene in Star Trek: Picard season 1 would have been a perfect moment for Jake Sisko to interview Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). But Cirroc Lofton is right that any Star Trek: Deep Space Nine aficionado who misses Jake Sisko needs only to find him each week on The 7th Rule podcast, where Cirroc has gained a deeper appreciation of Star Trek and the people who make it than he had in his youth.
