Huddersfield Town defender Christopher Schindler is leaving after a five-year spell with the Championship club.

The 31-year-old German has made a total of 184 appearances for the Terriers and was part of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2016-17.

Also departing are Tommy Elphick, Alex Pritchard, Oumar Niasse, Richard Stearman, Jayson Leutwiler, Demeaco Duhaney, Jaden Brown and Yaya Sanogo.

Striker Fraizer Campbell has been given a new one-year deal.

Defender Richard Keogh has also been in discussions with the Terriers about a new deal after joining the club mid-season from MK Dons.

Schindler was a popular member of the Terriers squad and twice won the player of the year award at the John Smith's Stadium.

"He will always be considered among the greats at Huddersfield Town," chairman Phil Hodgkinson told the club website.

"He helped us achieve the unimaginable and his name will forever be written in the club's history.

"This is a sad day. We wish him nothing but success in the future; he will always be a friend to this club."
