Summer courses in Kiel

Every year, the International Center offers several summer courses for international students and graduates from foreign universities in collaboration with other cooperation partners.

The courses are structured differently, depending on the target group and offer German courses at different levels.. An overview of the courses can be found below.

International Summer Course »Deutschland heute« - language, society, government, culture

Every year, from mid-July to mid-August, Kiel University organises an international academic summer course for foreign students and graduates with previous knowledge of the German language.Those who attend can expect to undertake a programme of intensive language training and learn about German life, Germany and its institutions.

University of Utah Summer Course

Every year, a group of 20 students from the University of Utah visits Kiel University for four weeks, at the end of their university’s spring semester. The students attend an intensive course tailored to the specific needs of the University of Utah. The students can elect to take courses in German in literature and linguistics. The students are also offered a cultural programme with several excursions (including trips to Berlin and Lübeck).

German für University Studies - Prep course for a Semester Abroad

The course is designed to meet the needs of students and graduates of all subjects who would like to spend a semester at a German university. An emphasis is placed on practical language use. Our intention is to prepare the students/graduates for everyday life at a German university. In addition to the practical language classes, we will discuss social, political, and cross-cultural topics.
