Christian Vieri suggests he would not stop £140m striker joining Manchester United

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is viewed as a dream option for Manchester United this summer.

After leading Napoli to win the Serie A title, Victor Osimhen is the man of the moment. The 24-year-old Nigerian international is a player that his side are desperate to hold onto.

The Mail report Manchester United believe Osimhen is gettable, but it may cost a staggering £130 million.

However, a new report from TMW claims he would cost even more, £140 million.

Victor Osimhen future

Former Italy striker Christian Vieri has revealed he would simply leave the decision down to Victor Osimhen, and would not fight to keep him if he wants to go.

TeamTalk reported last month that Osimhen has ‘one eye’ on Manchester United, a club he has long admired.

Vieri, in an interview with Il Mattino, said: “If he feels good in Naples, it’s right that he stays, but if he wants to try other stadiums and other shirts, it’s right that he goes.

“He’s a hard worker, he plays for the team and it’s important because he connects the game with his teammates. With him you don’t just play long ball, and he’s improved a lot in this. Many strikers just score goals, but if you want to be considered top three you have to play with your teammates.”

Osimhen has scored 28 goals this season for Napoli in 36 appearances.

TMW report Napoli are keen to extend Osimhen’s contract, with the hope that even if he does not see out the deal, it could postpone his departure by another 12 months.

One of the ideas they are considering is to add a release clause, of around the £140m figure they would seek for his departure.

At this kind of price, I wouldn’t expect Manchester United to bite. Chelsea perhaps. It just seems like too much to spend on any one player.
