Sony’s Spider-Man Universe hasn’t had a great start this year, with ‘Madame Web’ being a disappointing flop. However, there’s hope with two big releases lined up: ‘Kraven the Hunter’ and the last movie in the ‘Venom’ series.

Yes, you heard it right, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ marks the end of the ‘Venom’ franchise in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. There’s speculation that the character might crossover into the MCU in the future, but that’s just hearsay for now. Given the mystery surrounding the movie, let’s summarize what we know so far about its plot, cast, release date, and other details.

The movie’s plot is kept secret

Typically, comic adaptations are rife with leaks and insider information, but the ‘Venom’ franchise has been surprisingly tight-lipped. As a result, we have no official or unofficial hints about the movie’s plot.

In the post-credits scene of ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ Venom exposes Eddie to different universes, leading him to the Tom Holland ‘Spider-Man’ universe. However, in the post-credits scene of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ Eddie is returned to his own universe, leaving behind a piece of symbiote goo.

Speculation has arisen with Chiwetel Ejiofor joining the cast, suggesting he may reprise his MCU role as Mordo. Since the script, written by Kelly Marcel, is based on a story concept she and Tom Hardy developed together, there are no hints from the source material to guide us.

There is limited information available about the cast

Of course, Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock and Venom. However, the roles of most other cast members remain undisclosed, leaving us to speculate.

  • June Temple: Lead character, role undisclosed
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor: Possibly reprising his role as Mordo, role undisclosed
  • Clark Backo: Role undisclosed
  • Peggy Lu: Mrs. Chen

Notably absent from the current cast list is Michelle Williams, who played Anne Weying in the first two ‘Venom’ films.

The release date of ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ was changed multiple times

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is scheduled for release in the United States on October 25, 2024, in IMAX and other premium large formats. Initially planned for October 2024, it was moved up to July 12, 2024, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. After the strike ended, the release date was pushed back to November 8, 2024, before ultimately returning to its original October 2024 slot. Recent reports indicate that the movie was advanced due to elections.
